we went bristol for a test & tune friday night. our first pass was 10.001 133.98 it being bristol the air was good around 1700 ft. we made our next pass at around 8.00 that night and the big mach 1 cranked out a 9.932 @ 134.30 mph!!!!. the air had dropped to around 1400 ft by that time. we are really happy. our goal when we started racing the car was 10.90s. now its a legit nine second car. not too bad i dont think for a 3100 lb mustang with a 409 ci pump gas 10.4 compression all motor cleveland!! ted

Ted I would have to say a pump gas 409 with that weight running 9's is very impressive.dis you dyno this engine and what kind of chassis work is done?is your engine in the build section? Wow!

steve our mach 1 is basic old school what we call a backhalf car. sub frame connectors.coil over shocks ladder bars. 13x31.5 rear hoosier slicks. our sixty foot time is not that great usually 1.43 to 1.45. we have 4.30 rear gears. as far as power the engine dynoed at a little over 650 hp @ 6800 rpm . torque was 575 ft. lbs @5100.timing was 32 degrees . from the 330 ft mark on the car really runs.trans is a p/glide. i know the car would be faster with a c4 but we kept breaking ours so we went to a p/g.when we went that 9.932 my nephew ed who drives the car said the tach was at 6800 rpm. oh yeah our 1/8 mile time was 6.31 @ 109.32. thanks ted

Ted thats excellent power on 409 cubes!Sounds like your engine guy knows what he's up to.Your engine made about the same as my 434 with cam specs quite similar.I hope to do the same with my car eventually on the backhalf deal.Good job you guys! That should get the Chebby guys scratching their heads!Post some pics on launch it would be great to see. Also 1.45 60 is nothing to sneeze at in my books! Steve

There are six second leaf spring cars getting it done on radials without mini tubs, notching the frame rails, or a custom four link that is called a leaf spring. Why hack up a good car if it is not necessary. Goood job on the making it to the nines club. hopefully i'll be there some day.
