Here's the short version:
I like my XBOX.
In fact, I like it a lot.
And aside from the occasional disc read error (which happens to all of them), I havn't had a single problem with it.
I liked DOA3.
In fact, I liked it a lot.
I thought the update disc was a great idea. No patches or anything, but extra features that can be added.
I wasn't thrilled that you had to get an issue of the Official XBOX Magazine (read: Official Propoganda Magazine) to get it, but fine, I'll spend the $9.
I get it.
I bring it home.
I put it in the XBOX.
....nothing. Disc read error. Hm...maybe it had a fingerprint on it or something. *Rubs the disc on his shirt*
I put it back in the XBOX.
...nothing.
(Repeat 50 times)
....fine.
*Returns to EB the next day.*
*Gets a replacement disc*
*Drives towards home*
*Stops for a bagel*
*Drives home*
*Eats bagel*
Yay, finally, I get to see how this works.
I insert the disc and...
...disc read error.
....
....
...riiiight....
Ok, so fine, its a freaking DVD. I pop it in my DVD drive, and voila, it gets recognized. ...greaaaaaat...there's nothing wrong with the disc. I pop DOA3 in, and it works fine. I pop a DVD in, and it works fine. I put the OXM disc in. ...read error.
So at this point, I now have to:
*bitch to OXM for releasing a crappy disc
*bitch to Microsoft because the problem may not be the disc
*bitch to the EB guys again to get another OXM disc to try
*bitch to Tecmo for not just sending DOA3 owners the disc in the mail
...so while I've had nothing but praise to give to the XBOX so far, it has crossed the line here, and unless there's some sort of resolution soon, Microsoft is going to learn that they've pissed off the wrong guy...![]()
