It used to be about two guys trying to outsmart each other inside this messed up serial killer plot. I didn't really love it, but for some reason I couldn't stop watching. Probably because I wanted to see how convoluted their plots could get.
Now it's about the same two guys, joining together in "Team-Teensquad!" in order to take down a group of super powers of the financial world. WTH. Oh, and they have a mascot, Misa.
Yet, I'm still watching.. why? Maybe I'm waiting for the notebook to get back in Light's hands. I don't know. Somebody who's read the manga, please tell me I'm wasting my time for atleast a semi good reason.
