Oh, I forgot to type this. Yea, I agree that Square would never re-use the whole main character in the past nor in the future of FF games. However this time, it's about the motion picture of FF, not games. Hmm... I think this virtual actress idea is great. Re-use main character (Aki) = less production time, less cost, and more popularity to Aki.

Yeah granted it cost them a small (huge!) fortune to create Aki, but I can't help thinking it's just another Hollywood betrayal of the FF feel to break another one of the "rules" from the games. The storyline was very Hollywood, the music, even though it was good, wasn't by Uematsu, and they left out the majority of the "elements" to an FF game. I did like the movie, but I felt the link between FF the movie and FF the games was more than slightly tenuous at times. Of course financial considerations have to come in to play, but re-using Aki would be another sell-out to Hollywood, Square trying to create virtual celebrity.![]()

Square had the chance to show the non-video-gaming public what they've been missing. but by merely focusing attention on the grfx and not creating the masterpiece it could have been... people got what they expected: a 'videogame' plot. and will probably remain with their false assumptions about the weakness of the FF games.
