Well in my opinion I find the final fantasy music really good especially Melodies of Life, Eyes on Me, the battle themes, etc...
So what's yours? It doesn't matter what you are faced with, it is how you react to it, and that is what makes you the person you are ^_^

While Uematsu does a great job, I think Yasunori Mitsuda is better at capturing the moment with his music. Just look at the work he did with Xenogears, Chrono Cross and (most of)Chrono Trigger.

I somewhat disagree. I think that, although Mitsuda is great anyways, he's BETTER at making music sound better on a low quality synth (i.e.: SNES or PSX). He was able to make his music sound much more natural on those systems, while Uematsu's mainly sounded...well...electronic.
But as far as the composition goes, I'd stick with Nobuo.

nice points pplz.. but i hafta agree wif JimbO on this one.. Uematsu's music is composed soo well, if u get the piano pieces u'll see what i mean.. even tho they sometimes seem a bit too electronic (ff7) the tunes themselves are soo beautiful.. i really admire that guy.. I have a story about FF music!! If you care to listen...
One day I had just got the internet and it was a big novelty. I was doing a search for drawings of dragons. And I found a site which also had this music to download. So I downloaded this music, which I knew nothing about, and thought it was really good and spent much time listening to it. Especially a piece called "Death of Rachel" and "final Fantasy Ending 2" (the 21 minute one)
I spent the next two years downloading this "Final Fantasy" music stuff. One day I found some really cool images and video clips of a new Final Fantasy game (FF 8). I bought the game purely cause it looked pretty and I liked the music. I had NO idea of what the game was like. I'd never played an RPG before.
So essentially it was the music that drew me to these games in the first place. The fact that I now think they're the best series on earth is a bonus ;)- Min

I prefer Yasunori Mitsuda as well. Chrono Cross is my favorite video game OST... I *still* get chills every time I hear "Dreamwatch of Time" or "Time's Scar"... and while do I like most of FF's instrumental tracks, I can't think of a single vocal track that I can stand... I don't know what it is...something about the voice, or the overall sound... They're just too weird for me. The vocal tracks for CC and Xenogears, on the other hand, I think are just absolutely beautiful...
Things don't have to be this way.
Catch me on a better day.
