Sword of the Berserk

Has anyone else read the manga? I saw the anime as well, but I just recently found the manga online. It explains some things I had problems with in the anime, and seems more cohesive overall. It's also really, really fucked up.
Oh, on a semi off-topic note, someone made a Sword of the Berserk game for the Dreamcast that was actually really great. It was even released locally.

You found the manga? I've only been able to find the later issues, which are useless to someone wanting an introduction to the series.
