        haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe
You will also need an MPEG2 decoder. If you have a DVD Player software installed, you are good to go.

This isn't going to complete screw over videoplay of other formats will it.. I already have that stupid greenscreen problem with xvid/divx because it isn't all installed in a specific order (wtf).

Install what in a specific order? Video codecs? wtf?
If this screws something up, I blame your computer.
I refuse to use AVI. Inferior garbage. Get the MKVs to work or download an convert to AVI yourself Because I am certainly not converting my videos to the inferior.
Alternately, you can install the ultimate all in one everything you need package the CCCP.
            This should make everything work:
            c.movax.org/software/Comb...-12-15.exe
Watching Kenshiro make heads explode is worth the effort.

              15GIGS!???
So.. I'm downloading the movie only, for now.
Ren, who sadly only has 17gigs free. She thought it would be more than enough for anything that could come her way, but apparently not.

                Stop lying, Ren.
It is not 15GB. It is 14.4GB.
Here is the full text included with the OVAs so you understand what it is all about.
                -----
These rips were made without encoding any content from the R1 DVDs.
THIS IS THE WAY RIPS ARE MEANT TO BE DONE!
To playback the .mkv container, download and install Haali Media Splitter
if you don't already have matroska playback capability.
                haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe
To view the subtitles you will need VSfilter.
                www.free-codecs.com/downl...VobSub.htm
The videos are meant to display in a 4:3 aspect ratio.
You can set ffdshow to obey the container AR by enabling the
"Use overlay mixer" option found in the output options and
                restarting the video.
For best picture quality, you should download the Decomb.dll and
use the AviSythn plugin in ffdshow to IVTC the video and deinterlace
(use interpolate) the video. For this to work you need to use a MPEG2
decoder that does not deinterlace (Not PowerDVD or WinDVD's decoder).
Use DScaler or ffdshow's MPEG2 decoder.
Just download and install AviSynth 2.5 and Decomb.dll in the AviSynth
plugins folder. Then in ffdshow's AviSynth configuration, put the following:
                AssumeTFF()
                Telecide(guide=1,post2)
Alternately, you can just use one of ffdshow's deinterlacers. I find
5-tap lowpass works without ruining the picture. Although I suggest the
                above method for best results.
If you like the series, then be a true Hokuto no Ken fan and buy the dvds.
You can buy all three OVAs on a single dvd from ADV for about $30.

You know what would be funny...
If after doing all that^^, I try to run the thing and my PC lags the @#%$ out of it because I don't have 2gigs RAM.
                  oh, Happy Holidays everyone!!

It's playing beautifully (I am impressed), but it didn't come with embed subtitles, and I'm having no luck finding any loadable ones. Do you have any?

I could direct you so some terribly formatted subs and horrifying timing and timestamps actually showing on the screen and bad translation and tepyos everywhere which can be found here: www.badongo.com/file/1808457
I could also direct you to some YouTube videos with the important scenes subbed from the TV series which can be found here:
