My tuition jumped from $1200 per quarter to $1600 a quarter this year -- can we say "more than inflation!"? -- and looking around the computer labs now, I can see why.
Anyone else think 21-inch perfect flat and travel-thin monitors is a bit much for the hundreds of computers they *already* upgraded and bought pretty new monitors for LAST YEAR? My pocketbook hurts just thinking about it...

This belongs under the "Why do you hate your school?" topic. You think thats bad? My school cuts deals with Apple that affect my curriculum(like teaching and demanding we use only Final Cut Pro) so it can get computer shit cheaper. Those LCD screens are really helping me learn. http://webpages.charter.net/gestahr/Movie2.swf

Schools seem to fit in two categories on tech. Either they're still using ancient 386's, loaded with a full 2 megs of ram each (come on, Windows 3.1 needs it ), or they're stockpiling the latest P4's, each with at least 512 megs of ram...FOR WORD PROCESSING.
I can see needing expensive monitors and feature-laden computers for labs dealing specifically with graphic design, digital video, etc., but when you've got powerhouse machines running little more than Word, Internet Explorer, and *shudder* Power Point, its nothing more than waste.

My school does need them, but LCD panels are an excessive luxury we don't need. :\http://webpages.charter.net/gestahr/Movie2.swf

My school is unfortunately in the "tech-dead" group.
            Hello P1.
I'd rather be in the "excessively advanced" group! MRk MRK n FnK Mz
