XenoSaga is currently saveing me from the past weeks events due to the war... We lost alot of troops today, so of course I played like crazy. Is anyone else playing games trying to break out of reality due to this or am I the only one? Am I insane? How do you deal with war time crap?

For me its pretty much life as usual. I'm always sparing a thought and a prayer for all the Iraqi civilians, Coalition troops and Iraqi conscripts who are in danger, but it hasn't affected the way I live my life in any major way.
Whenever I'm depressed, though, no-brainer reflex games like Megaman or Ikaruga seem to work the best. My mind's normally more occupied with all the firepower on screen than anything else.
Haven't noticed anything except a much larger reserve of rage (combined with a much lower tolerance for others), but that could be attributed to some things other than the war.---

Nothing really different here either. Been playing the current stuff, Xenosaga and the like, with Zelda coming shortly.
I also find a desire to go play some older games, like the Lucas Arts graphical adventures...but I'm sure that also has nothing to do with the world events.
Just to throw in my quick two cents, we haven't lost that many men in war. It may seem like we've lost a lot but that's because we've become accustomed to seeing very few casualties.

In Australia, all we're hearing about is the "accidents" from the US side. Choppers going down, allied planes getting shot down by mistake, some guy throwing a grenade in a tent and killing his mates(??!) etc..
How many US troops have actually been killed? MRk MRK n FnK Mz
i actually don't care much about this war, 10 people dead or 100 people dead, it isn't a difference. War means people WILL die, Americans, Iraqi, or Australians, innocent or not. People will pay for it afterwards from all around the world - and i'll be sitting there still dreaming about the car im getting!!!!!!!!
Yeah, most of the Brittish casulties are being caused in actual fact by the US. They blew up one of our jets on it's return flight and killed one of our reporters heading back to base camp in an armoured personnel carrier. Dude, this sucks ass.Damn it all to hell... I need to pay for a HTML sig?
Moon is right in that, relatively speaking, this war has gone quite well in terms of casualties, for BOTH sides. With many groups of Iraqi soldiers surrenduring without a shot being fired, both sides are spared a brutal conflict, and the possibility of civillian casualties (which have been relatively nonexistant so far) is averted.
I'm guessing 20-30 US troops have died so far, as well as probably a dozen or so British (no clue on exact figures, so don't go quoting me). When you have a military operation of this side, the likelyhood of such accidents increases, and unfortunately, we've already had more than our share of them. The real tragedy has been the accidents that COULD have (and should have) been avoided. One American soldier going nuts and tossing four gernades into a tent? An American missile shooting down a British plane (what happened to our coordination there)? Such actions could've been avoided, and its tragic that they weren't.
Especially when they have been stressing how "high-tech" everything is, seems really sad seeing such accidents. Ah well! It is bound to happen in war.. bleh..MRk MRK n FnK Mz
