Ok. I've been thinking of coming out to my parents.
It takes up a fair bit of effort on my part to keep up tihs lie. I know it's something I have to do eventually and I think that I'm as mentally prepared as I'm ever gonna be. I don't see how waiting any more time is gonna change anything. Well, it won't change anything from my end.. I really don't know how they're gonna react and I'm scared shitless.
There's never really a good time to tell your parents your gay, is there?
Yesterday I was so down. I hit the biggest slump I've hit in the last year I think. It's been nearly a year since I told my first friends actually... It's just so hard to bring myself to say those few words, I know it's gonna start a chain reaction of events that'll change my life so drastically.
My mum is chinese. My dad is mauritian. And they're both strong christians. None of these make things any easier.
So I was listening to a song yesterday. "Respect ft Hannah Jones - I Am What I Am." I don't know if any of you guys have heard this song before. But the lyrics really got to me.

No, seriously...I think it is better to tell them ASAP than not be able to be yourself. If they love you, they will understand. (Maybe not right when you tell them, they might even try to convert you and stuff, but eventually, they will understand...)

I don't understand why sexual preference is such a big deal in our society, but oh well(I do, rather, but it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense). :i My advice would be to stop caring; I never told my mom I liked girls, so I don't see why you bother telling them you like boys. If you even bother; I mean, it's your life dude. Do what you want, who cares what your parents think?
If you're really set on sitting them down and telling them, though, do it in a cocktail dress.not allowed

I guess it's kind of hard for any of us to give advice on this situation because (as far as I'm aware) none of us have had to do it. If you haven't already, talk about it to your boyfriend. I know you said he had an easier time of it when he told his parents, but at the very least he can give you the moral support you need.
I think you're right about the idea of telling them now rather than living with the secrecy. I've done that (albeit with something a little less serious than this) and after a while I just couldn't keep going with it. I really hope that if your parents are Christian they won't reject you outright for your decision. Obviously I don't know them and there's no point hypothesizing on what they're going to say because of that, but I hope they remember that you're their son first and foremost.

It really doesn't matter to me what your sexual orientation is. (I don't like the term 'preference') But to my parents it would just be a huge shock, and a huge deal due to religious beliefs. MRk MRK n FnK Mz
