I was visiting with a friend last night, and we got to talking about ShenMue for the Saturn. I was going on and on about how I wished there were videos or something somewhere, at which point he told me I could find them online or at the end of the Japanese Shenmue 2 if I wanted.
I was under the impression that Shenmue had been worked on for a short time for the Saturn, and then everything was scrapped in favor of the Dreamcast. Oh, how wrong I was. :o Apparently Shenmue spent 2 years in development for the Saturn under the guise of a Virtua Fighter RPG. Considering it's all running on 3D hardware that was never meant to run 3D, it's pretty impressive visually.
    The video's here.not allowed

Wow. Looks better than Vagrant Story, which is my barometer for good graphics on the PSX.
AM2 really must be worth their programming salt, I'd still like to see the rumored VF3 on Saturn port.---

I believe the Saturn video was unlockable on the Japanese/UK versions of the Dreamcast game. I never checked if it was on the XBOX version. The CG video is from the Project Berkley Dreamcast disc, which I can get a clean record of if you'd like (same with the Saturn video if it's on that XBOX disc).
Damn impressive for the time, and even while other games may boast more polygon counts and graphical features than Shenmue, it still stands up very well all these years later, simply due to the sheer amount of detail.

I never got around to recording that, did I?
I could've sworn that I had an s-video cable for my DC though.
