So what does the launch window look like for the Wii? Anyone think it's going to be limited supply? I know I'm going to camp out for the PS3 (with intent to resell on eBay. Yeah, call me what you want.) but I'm just wondering if I should do the same for the Wii.
At least based on the way Nintendo is putting it, it shouldn't be too hard to find a Wii at launch. Yeah, the game stores and the Wal Mart-type stores may be out launch day/week, but it sounds like they'll all get it back fast.
If you're going to wait on line with the intent to sell, I'd say PS3 is the only viable option at the moment.

Good luck getting a PS3. Only 400,000 to serve NA.
From Broadbandreports.com:
Nintendo today announced that the broadband-centered Wii gaming console will be released on November 19 for $249.99. Four million units will be available worldwide at launch, but the United States will be getting the biggest shipment. 30 Games will be available in the Wii launch window (a month or two after release), with half of those available at launch (Wii Sports is included). As we've discussed, users will be able to download games from Nintendo's back catalog via broadband.

Show of hands, who actually wants a Wii? And who actually wants a PS3?
And by want, I mean actually want. Not just going to buy because it is cheap or you want a cheap bluray player.

Wow, it only took Nintendo one day to take the system from being semi-region free to...not region free at all...
EDIT: And to answer the quesion above...I'm aiming to get both. The Wii mainly for Zelda, Red Steel (please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck...), and maybe Rayman. That and a hope that this doesn't turn into GameCube 2.0, with one awesome release every....16 months.
On the PS3 end, the only games that have me interested are Lair (which may or may not even be launch) and Resistance. In all honesty, it'll pretty much be used as a glorified PS2 for a while, as I'm more interested in games like FF12, Guitar Hero 2, and Okami than the PS3 fall lineup.

The only reason I'd want a wii is for Zelda and Mario... and I can catch up on all the GC games I never got to play too. I could live without it though, easily, since I lived without a GC.
That being said, I WANT a PS3 in all senses of the word. Its not in the cards though.
Its weird how, for me, the wii has more things to offer right now... cheaper, an established library of guaranteed-great games... but I still want the PS3 more. And pathetically, it's probably (and only) because of FF13.

I'll probably just borrow Twlight Princess from a friend and play it on NGC. I won't be buying it though. I lost anticapition for the game when it got delayed so long.
That leaves no titles on Wii that I am currently interested in. And I would be cautious of their popular franchise after the gamecube generation.

Don't we all love Nintendo for being cheaper than the rest?
Q: Can the Wii hook up to a computer monitor?
A: Despite early Nintendo boasts that it could, this no longer appears to be the case. As the FAQ has already stated, Wii outputs via composite, S-video or component cables, none of which are compatible with computer monitors.
Q: Wii component cables are not included in the box. But will they be available to buy when the system launches?
A: Yes. Although Nintendo has not yet divulged details on the price of the separately sold Wii component cables, the 480p compliant solution will be available at launch. Third party manufacturers are already advertising Wii component cables on various online videogame retail outlets. Meanwhile, just about every Wii game in development supports 480p and 16:9 widescreen modes, which makes a good case for Nintendo to ready the component cables for launch.
Q: Do GameCube component cables work with Wii?
A: No. Wii features a new proprietary plug that simultaneously handles both component and audio output. GCN component cables are incompatible with the device, but even if they were gamers who used them would lose the ability to output audio through Wii because GCN component cables do not feature left/right audio.
