Anarchy Online - if you haven't heard of it by now - is the first MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) to compete against the giants EverQuest and Asheron's Call. I'm currently beta testing it, and it's set to be released late June. It takes place about 30k years into the future on a planet called Rubi-Ka.
Gameplay-wise, AO is great. Customizable missions (choose difficulty, whether you want mainly credits or xp, a mix of both, etc), and even player-made missions. There are many different "professions" to choose from, and, of course, you can change your look. You can also change your height and whether you're thin, medium, or fat. Graphically, it's stunning. The city of OMNI I is huge (a bit too huge), and the outdoor areas are expansive.
Although the game is in beta, it's very well made. The catch is that it's $12.95 a month, a bit pricey compared to EQ and AC. It's a great game, though, and I can predict staying up into the wee hours of the night, playing with my local friend Nardo.
