The creators of Tenchu didn't seem to get it together with this game from what I can see. I really enjoyed Tenchu so when I herd the same team that created it were making a samurai game I was very excited. Sadly "Way of the samurai" does so many things wrong, its redeemable features that it has does not save the entire game overall.
In the game you play as Kenji-san, a wandering samurai in the 1800's during a time when the samurai are dieing out or something like that :P One of the things that is really cool about "Way of the Samurai" are the multiple paths, there are allot of them. But the game is so frickn short its almost laughable. You could probably beat this game in a couple of sittings (or one), but then you probably would like to play it over again and try a different scenario which is neat.
Some of the areas in this game are nice to look at, but allot are utter crap. Onimusha had better character models than this game, as I finished for the 5th time, I thought that "Way of the Samurai" would have been a good launch title, there are so many technical errors in this game its sad. (MASSIVE POPUP ON THE PS2??? W.T.F?????)
The combat is retarded, as kenji seems to enjoy tripping and falling over anything. Not fun. Sword combat has been done better before, and the fact that only once enemy attacks you at a time is laughable.
If you want to play "Way of the Samurai", I suggest renting it. I don't think it deserves paying full price for this game.
