I think I saw the date Oct. 5 as a release for her album "Exodus" in the states..
Just got the mp3s earlier.. I'm so used to hearing Utada singing in Japanese with the occasional English hook or something, it's weird listening to an entire song in English!
She actually has some pretty high profile producers like Timbaland for some of her tracks.. you can tell- the beats are FUNKY.

On the one hand I hope it bombs, and on the other I want it to succeed. ;x not allowed

I love Hikki, but if it succeeds it's just going to perpetuate this whole "Japan is so cool!" trend thats going around. not allowed

I thought you were against the "Japan is so weird!" trend.

You mean the same "Japan is so cool!" trend which the vast number of...say...console gaming sites and boards are immersed in?
"omfg Amerikn pop suX but ayu RULEZZ!1"
There are still plenty of people who believe anything made in the US or Europe inherently blows compared to a product that originates in the East, and I fail to see how this would change or perpetuate that fact. She's singing, as usual, so I don't see how the language or origin is really a factor, aside from the fact that she'll get more coverage in the US.
Honestly, I don't think such a craze is going to put her on the top of the charts or anything.
