Apparently the Xbox is going down to 199 (from 300) in this country because nobody wants to buy it. Bit of a kick in the teeth for the people who bought it at the launch (about eight weeks ago!) Apparently Microsoft are giving them all a thank you present of two games and a controller so they don't feel so bitter.katyjag

At least that's something. MS could just blow them off with the price cut.
Oh well, at least the price is SOMEWHAT sane in Europe now. Microsoft's best bet would be to slash it to like $100 or so in Japan. Sure, you'll lose a lot MORE money, but you're not going to be outsold by THE DREAMCAST!

I read an article about how M$ lost a ton of money on Xbox. They were off like, 2 million units for the estamates in Europe.

Maybe that'll teach em for repackaging a PC, doubling the size, and expecting it to fit in people's TV units.. *grr*
All I've heard from my friends who own one (yes, both of them) is "Oh my God! It's bigger than my '83 VCR!" and "It doesn't fit in my bloody cabinet!"

i have 3 friends who got an xbox. all of them promptly sold it for a ps2 hehe
my friend boots, his brother just got an xbox and boots has been kicking him because he knows ps2 is better

Doubling the size? What the hell are you Aussies all using, Micro ATX-sized computers?
Its big and heavy compared to my PS2 or GCN, but its still maybe half the size and maybe a third of the weight of the reciever sitting right next to it.
