I had typed something more extensive, but IE crashed on me. *DoH*
Anyhoo, I've seen some complaints about running PS2 games on the PS3 using an HDMI connection. As I'm running component, I figure that shouldn't be an issue, right?
Now, I realize that Sony isn't exactly down with this whole "scaling" thing, and I guess wishing for extras like FSAA or a 720p/1080i picture may be asking for too much. But...if you're going to give me the same 480i/p picture that my PS2 will give me...can you at least make the games look as good as they do on your 6-year old machine?

Unfortunately, these were just quick pictures taken without a tripod on an old digicam, and they don't really show what I'm seeing. Regardless, trust me when I say that I'm seeing a better picture on my PS2 than my PS3, when it comes to PS2 games. Jaggies were always a problem with PS2 games, and somehow, the new machine makes those problems worse.
Is this truly the payoff for having a near-full compatibility list?
