Yeah I'm probably going to get a wii then. I said somewhere else that I thought Nintendo hadn't changed their price since the 80's from 200 bucks, so to tack on only another 50 in TWO THOUSAND AND (cor.) SIX is like them paying me.

Wii will have wii picture quality. No HD. And the component cables are likely to be a ripoff like NGC. Which is probably what help kill the digital output on the NGC.
Hopefully Nintendo will at least manufacture more than a wii amount of digital cables this time.

I'm neither for nor against it; I'm not planning on picking up a Wii until Nintendo shows they aren't going to pull a GameCube with it. not allowed

Any word on if GCN component cables will work with the system, or do I need to buy some new overpriced ones?

I read some info on another forum that Wii might not have the classic AV out that N64/SNES/NGC had. So unless they have another method for outputting the audio (I doubt it will have a digital audio out), you are screwed for audio out if they use the same digital out port.
But forum info is usually unreliable anyways. I am hoping Nintedo will contiue to use the same ports on previous consoles.
When Nintendo annouced Revolution, they said one of the "revolutionary" features would be that it would be playable on a computer monitor. So I am guessing they might native support for DVI or VGA output. I never heard any follow up information on that after initial annoucement.
EDIT: I agree with Gest. I am not making the mistake I made Last gen and buy into Nintendo at launch. Turns out the only exclusives I truely love on that console is RE4 and FZero. Oh wait, RE4 went non-exclusive only 6 months after its release.
