Alright, before I get into this review let me say something. Splinter Cell is a great game. If there is two games you should be required to own for your xbox it should be Halo, and Splinter Cell. In other words it kicks alot of ass. But there are small problems with it, but there so small and minor your going to look really stupid complaining about them. (Like the guy at Gamespot.com that reviewed it
)
It may say "Tom Clancy" on the top of case, but he had nothing to do really with writing this thing. It does thou, feel like something he would have written. In other words, expect to go against ex-soviets and chinese. Its formula writing at its best.
As Sam Fisher you are a "Splinter Cell" a spy that infiltrates "areas of interest" and gets information to protect America from being attacked, I dont want to spoil anything considering the story is awsome and has a ton of twists in it. Its not predictable, and youll go everywhere from the ex-soviet state of Georgia to the C.I.A. building in America.
The graphics have the best lighting I have ever seen. So good I was jokeing with a friend that real life dosent have lighting like that.
Charicter models are nicely detailed as everything runs off a modified Unreal engine.
Gameplay wise, this is not a metal gear clone. I hate it when a game whas gameplay mechanics that are similar to anothers and is just called a "clone". A example of this was Mafia! for P.C. which every review you read it was labeld as a "GTA3 clone". Calling Splinter Cell a MGS clone is B.S. Splinter Cell is a realistic sneaking game. You will not get a silencer for your gun and become a unstopable mad maniac killing machine (MGS
) You have to play Splinter Cell to see how it differs because the game takes a totaly differnt approach to the sneaking.
Uh-now that I have praised it. I will now try hard and find all the "problems"
-Clipping, bodies tend to fall thru walls.
-The cg cinimatics remind me of Syphon Filter, highres ingame graphics.
-Err, the uh, being addicted to this game is not a probelm
-Sometimes shooting a enemy in the head may not work cause the game is realistic and its impossable to shoot a guy with a silencer a mile away so...damn, thats not a problem either.
-I know there is something else...
-uh
-Downloadable levels are not up yet...
-Its on the Xbox
-vidiot-
Thats...about it, I wish I could talk about the sound but...I need to play more. Ive been able to pass the first mission with only fireing off two shots. Beat that!
