I got it yesterday and I wanna know what other people think. As yet I'm uncovinced it's a massive step on from TTT. It's good, but I can't help thinking it's lacking something...which is shame because I really like Tekken.

It's out the 25th here. I've played the arcade version, and I enjoyed it, but what bothered me was the fact that they re-animated all the characters, messing up the combo-timing.

OMFG! is it out in the uk? means itll come out in aus soon. :O
well i feel t4 characters are lacking. they'v gotten so old now, and nothing has really changed. i enjoy ttt more than t4 at the arcades.. t4 seems.. eh i dunno. not as good :S there has been quite a large leap tho, from uneven grounds and walls which affects the tactics largely..
combo timing is different because now you cant just tap it and itll come out automatically, you need to do it in time. one hit after another. say jins b->f 2, 1, 2 (which is really weird now) you cant just spam 212, you have to wait till he does the punche and then tap it.

Combo timing is different because all of the characters moves were reanimated, some were made longer, some were made shorter.

Hrmm. Being a big tekken fan since T1, I was a *lil* surprised with the PS2 version of T4.
Hows the extra features shaping up katy? T4 ain't out in .au til Sep25 I think.. It's a straight arcade port yeah? No graphical tweaks or such?
Gameplay wise, it has taken me a WHILE to get used to T4. The steps from T1-T2, T2-T3, T3-TTT all seemed very natural and logical. While, for me, the step from Tag to Tekken 4 just seemed a bit much.
hehehhe.. I felt sorry for all those Jin pros! They ruled the Tag world, then got screwed with the T4 version of Jin. hahah! He should've just been a different character. He has changed so much since Tag.. most of his old moves are either gone completely or changed in properties.. but I guess he's more balanced now, right?
The main thing I miss is my juggles. One of the MAIN reasons I loved Tekken was learning/mastering huge ass juggles or floats. Unblockable, unstoppable etc etc.. ahhh~ Juggles were the single greatest part of tekken for me! And now, juggles have been hacked down so much. The focus has shifted entirely, I've found it quite difficult to get used to this.. arghh..
I'll still be getting it as soon as I can. PS2 version should be nice, I'm interested in the improved Tekken Force Mode too! Can't wait...

That'll be no extra features, bumz.

There's no mini-games to unlock or anything, one reason I'm annoyed at Namco.

There's only the story/arcade, time attack, survival, practice, theatre/music and Tekken Force modes. Graphically it doesn't stray too far from the arcade either, imo.
As regards the slow down for PAL, there is a bit of a difference, if I remember right. I played the arcade version when I was in Texas, and it does seem slower in the conversion. But then Tekken has seemed pretty slow for a while anyway cause I've been playing DOA2 more recently.
On the positive side, it's good to see a bit more of the storyline, even if Tekken stories do rival paint drying for the speed they progress at. Nice to see Kazuya's still a psychopath and Jin's still confused...some things never change.
Hehe, I still can't believe the UK got a game first for once though...

God, I was so lucky to get my previous games in NTSC. The PAL version of T3 had SEVENTEEN PERCENT slowdown. That's beyond crap. And when TTT came out for PS2, I went to a shopping centre and got ass-whoOped by some lil kid simply coz I couldn't get any combos out! The timing was completely different with the slowed rate..
Anyways, I've always managed to get an NTSC version of T1-TTT heheh (Malaysia r0x)..
But I really hope that T4 isn't a shocker, coz I ain't planning on going to Malaysia for at least 6 months... don't want to wait that long ^_^!
Too bad about the mini-games! I want Tekken Beach Volleyball!! >_< lol! *droOL* ooOoo xiAoyu! aNna! ninA! JuLiA! kunimitSu! MRk MRK n FnK Mz

The messiah? Explain yourself!
All the mods I've seen around have been DODGY. Friend of mine just got his modded with an updated mod and still had problems with in within a few months.
I've been looking around for a decent mod. Need import games dammit! >_< Plus, it would be nice to be able to buy some funky games in Japan and actually be able to play them back in .au!
*cough*hentai games*cough*
