CHV Lives On

Lots of people have expressed their disappointment with this system and gaming magazines have said that it's failed to live up to the hype.
Despite this, I really enjoy the system and its games. The graphics are great and some of the games even have good gameplay. Tekken Tag Tournament, SSX, and Zone of Enders are few of the games I like.
Unfortunately, the quality of most of the games for the Playstation 2 aren't that great but.. Some games are coming out that are expected to be good such as Final Fantasy X, Gran Turismo 2000, and Metal Gear Solid 2.
Also, I finally have a DVD player thanks to the Playstation 2. I rent anime DVDs all the time now and I watch it on my Playstation 2.
I never had a real DVD player before, though, so I don't really know what I'm missing (lots of people say that the Playstation 2 is a horrible DVD player or something).
Well, who else is satisfied? Who's not satisfied?

Ya, I'm satisfide with my PS2...even though I haven't used the DVD part of the PS2 just yet. But, I still like the console cuz on the The Bouncer, the PS2 makes it real smooth. Cuz most systems probably can't handle controlling the bad guys(your fighting) and the other two characters(while you use the third) in a battle.

I've only used the DVD on my PS2 a couple of times, but as far as I've seen, there's nothing wrong with it at all. And yeah, okay, so there aren't that many good games out yet for the PS2, but it's been out what, a year in Japan and like six months everywhere else. There weren't that many good games for PS1 after the same length of time. There were good ones, but all the best games came some time later in the console's lifespan. So I don't think people ought to write it off just yet! Plus, how many people here are eagerly anticipating MGS2? That looks like good game, even though I'm not much of a MGS person. (katyjag anticipates being shouted down for admitting that haha... ) I haven't regretted once parting with the cash just to get a PS2 on release day cause I think it's a great system.Katyjag, a young revolutionary...

I agree......and there are still some hardware stuff being made and almost set for the PS2...like the harddrive, mouse, keyboard, THE WEB, etc.. Plus, I can image it now when everyone has a PS2 and having their PS2's connected...the freakin' web crashes because of all the data flow made by the PS2's.THAT'S DISGUSTING !! TAKE A SHOWER BABY !!!!

Nope, not at all. But I am taking Bo's advice to wait until June to see some good games.

If the sony console isn't that great, how come they have such great games? isnt it the games that make a console? not the other way around? (to some degree anyway)
Personally, i think the gamecube will be aimed at a 'younger' audience (yet again)... whats with Nintendo? they dont really provide many games for the older gamers huh? i mean with N64, only a handful of games were for the older market (Conkers, Perfect Dark, Golden Eye etc) i was so sick of seeing Pokemon Stadium2, Mario this and that, Yoshi blah blah blah..

Nintendo has really struck a gold mine if you would want to to accept it or not. they target little kids to buy thier products. And when you were a little kid, Can you remember yourself hassling the **** out of your parents so you can get this and that? I think nintendo are playing thier cards very well staying to the younger audience, seeing as though all the other consoles- xbox, dc, ps2 are battling it out here. Nintendo has earned themselves a HUGE reputation amongst the younger kids, and face it, no company can take thier reputation away from them. I personally used to love nintendo as a kid, and i hope they keep doing thier great job. (my hands are itching to get a GBA... ooooooooooooooooo cant wait!!!)
About the PS2 dvd playback, many have complained (and yes the quality is a tad worse (as far as i can tell on my pioneer dvd)) but the quality is very good and quite decent to use as a home theater dvd player. Those poeple complaining are just bitching because they have nothing to do, don't pay attention to them.
overall. yep. the ps2 is great and right now, there is not a better console to own IMHO.

If you have been reading the news on NGC you would see the almost %40 of the games so far seem to be simed for the big M by ESRB
Sony Ps1 - i was playing ff9 and my first disc borke inside it
Sony Ps2 - friend in jappan lost his RR5 disc after about 10 hours (stright) of use. (i know 10 hours is alot, but it BROKE~!)

Well I agree that Nintendo is thriving over kids. But the any Pokemon thing isn't going to last forever, you know? So the Nintendo might as well save most of the money they made, so when Pokemon dies in a couple of years they'll still have some cash left to help make DIFFERENT games or all sorts.
But, with that DVD part about PS2. The reason why people see that the DVD thing is a tad worse than a original dvd player is probably cuz the DVD part of the PS2 isn't FULLY used to playing dvd's, cuz it's also a videogame console. It's TWO systems compacted into one, so I don't think its bad to see a few glitches on the PS2 for the first few weeks, the glutches may go away after a while.THAT'S DISGUSTING !! I'm sure Nintendo have plans for thier future, they are known for keeping huge secrets until the very end. As for variety, you can count on the big M for that, who else than the GENIUS of games to come up with vareity ?
as an example.., Miyamoto worked with Sega to create that wacky game seaman (men?), which was nothing but out of this world.
Im sure nintendo have surprises up thier sleeves, and you can count on thier first party games to be A+ as per usual. (quite different to the ps2, dc, and probably xbox dont you think?) who can forget how many 10/10 mario 64 scored, quite amazing actually.
btw. the reason why poeple complain about the ps2 playback is because they have some problems playing dual layered dvd discs, prime example is the Matrix. Some poeple get skip playback when thier ps2 is vertical or something..? but mine atcually plays it fine without any skips, standing vertical also.
