    Anyone biting?
I'm not so sure on how many of their early launch titles will be, but it comes with a demo for Frequency Online and an online version of Twisted Metal for free.
Socom....I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up.
I havn't decided if I'd get it, but since most of you here are console gamers, it would be nice to hand your ass to you for once.

Depending on how it's handled...I mean, truthfully, I don't really care about games like Everquest and FFXI(although I will play it). What has me jazzed about online play is the idea of Tekken 4, Soul Calibur 2 or Auto Modellista online. Games that aren't made for online play(like fighting and racing games) but has that option enhance them. When those titles start coming out, thats when I'll be getting the adapter.

uh, to be perfectly honest I haven't even bothered playing socom in single player yet
At first I was a little put off, I don't have that much money and the network adapter (and especially socom) put a dent in my game money (wah) But it was worth it. The network adapter is only $40 and you can get Twisted Metal Black: Online free with it, and thats really cool. Socom thou, is expensive considering it comes with that voice chat/voice recognition headset.

I'd just be treating it as a $40 purchase of Twisted Metal: Black Online, at this time. That's looking to be the only game I play online for the next few months.

            PS2+ Network adapter = approaching XBOX-like weight.
Seriously. The PS2 was fairly light, and the network adapter isn't incredibly heavy on its own. But once they're combined, the unit feels a lot heavier than it should be. I wonder if the XBOX will actually weigh-in less than a PS2 that has a hard drive and network adapter (ie, two things already on the Midway) installed. I should throw in a generic HD just to see.
EDIT: Uh...that kinda brings up something I haven't thought of, nor have I heard anything about. Will a standard HD fit in that slot? I know Sony will probably do their best to make sure it only works with certain HD's (ie, ones already formatted to their specifications), and the PS2 will probably require some special software (Sony: "Profit!"), but I wonder how long it'll be before people are adding massive hard drives to the PS2...
...not that it'll do much of anything.

People have managed to fit normal HDDs into the bay, but without the proper software I think they just spun uselessly for a few seconds and then went silent.
And I didn't know the HDD and NA added five pounds to the PS2...which is what's necessary to bring its weight up to the Midway's level, as without the addons the PS2 is around 4 lbs.

I said close to...and with a HD, I'm sure it'll be pretty damn close to.
Makes me wish I had a decent scale for small measurements around here, as I'd throw a HD into my PS2 to check it out.

Make sure you can get it out afterwards. I think they click into place.

um dude.. i have a hdd stuck in my ps2... thats a long story. its not plugged in or anything. i just wanted to see if it would fit. but you know how somethign go in, but won't come out? yeah.
talking about this broadband adapter. can you connect to the net via your computer through a switch or normal lan connection? $40 USD sounds ok, thats the price of a game anyhow. Im really interested in getting this when i can, for the gamecube too.
