Some at Sony have consistently stated how powerful the Playstation 3 is compared to the competition (not all that unlike Peter Moore's "lucid dream" comment), and while there's no doubt that the machine is a beast, I'm not seeing how that is a jump from "XBOX 1.5" to "PS3.5".
The sarcastic reference is to one of Memorex's commercial campaigns back in the 70's (I wasn't around for the original airing either), where Ella Fitzgerald's voice being played on a Memorex tape deck shatters a glass. The point of the ad was to suggest that you couldn't separate their superior product from reality, and came with the tagline "Is it Live, or is it Memorex?" They still kept the shattered glass icon on most of their products.

mmm.. pretty textures. I wonder if I'd suck at this DMC too.
