Just curious as to how all of you were exposed to Final Fantasy. For me, well, my mom really liked to play Zelda for the Nintendo and so she got Zelda for the Super Nintendo also.
Once she beat that, I found Final Fantasy Mystic Quest at Blockbuster and thought she might like it so I rented it. She beat it in one night and let me kill the last boss (hahaha).
Then I rented Final Fantasy 2. I didn't really play it and my mom didn't really care for it either.
Then I bought Secret of Mana. Loved it so I rented Final Fantasy 3. Awesome game but I never did get to finish it.
Then I bought Chrono Trigger which I later traded with a friend for Final Fantasy 3 and ever since then, I've been hooked on Final Fantasy.
So.. How about the rest of you?

Final Fantasy VII. I have a feeling a whole bunch of people were introduced to the Final Fantasy series with that game, and I loved it.

The first final fantasy was....final fantasy 1 for Nintendo, my friend own it, we would have all nighter's and build up the characters, the first one I own was Final Fantasy IV ( 2 in the U.S.A ) And to this day it's still my favorite

Same here. My first Final Fantasy WAS Final Fantasy. IX is the only one I havn't completed yet (and that DOES include IIj and IIIj), which is odd since I usually rush to beat them within a week or two of getting them.

Yeah FF7 was the first Final Fantasy that I played. Since then I have Played FFT, and FF8. I have also played some of FF3 on rom, but I since then have lost the roms. So yeah, I am pretty much a newbie to the FF Series. I will say though that Tactics should get more credit than it does. I loved the battles in Tactics, even though they were insanely long and hard to beat at some points in the game. I didn't get everything in the game, but I beat it at 59:59:59, one second before one hour . So yeah, that's my FF experience...

My first FF was the first one. I played it after slaughtering Dragon Warrior, Zelda, and Ultima on the NES. FF took much longer to beat and was VERY difficult toward the end.
I then played ff2(us)/ff4(jp) and ff3(us)/ff6(jp) on SNES, and loved them both. FF4's dark-knight-becoming-a-paladin bit was a great story (I thought)and FF6 was the only game I had ever played where the world actually ended! (Well almost).
FF7, 8, and 9 I have finally completed, and FF5 and Tactics as well now. And I have now finished FF2 (via emulator). If I can get thru FF3(jp) I will be complete! It is difficult, though, but I love the Job system! Some really good translations are available now if you look...

me? actrually, my first ff was kinda dumb
i was browsing through EB's used games for gameboy and then i cam across FF adventure. cause it was cheap ($14.99 CAN) so i brought it
and then i got hooked and started playing FF4...which later got me to FF5,6,8,7
notice how i placed 8 before 7? cause i played it in that order
...bakamatai...

Mog
The very first time that I played final fantasy was on SNES which was ff3 and after that I got hooked on it ever since
hehe It doesn't matter what you are faced with, it is how you react to it, and that is what makes you the person you are ^_^

Well I was a huge fan of the Zelda series, before I'd heard of FF, Zelda 3 was my fav game for a long time (love Z4 the Game Boy version too) and Thats how it started I got a GB game Mystic Quest (AKA Final Fantasy Adventure, which I thought was awsome!) I then tried FF4 I think (US2) wasn't I'm pressed. Then I got Chrono Trigger, and was Blown away and that is the moment that has got me in to Japan/anime/ff my first true Final Fantasy was 7 though. And 7 and Chrono Trigger are my joint favourite games of all time along with FF8 in second place (Note I've got them all now and I still like them in that order)Jed
