I HAVE REVIVED ARIES!
Okay, so were all pretty much bored each time posts something like that on this board. But I have something to say about a certain FF RPG.
I was looking through my stack of games the other day, when I actually found my old FF8 demo. Not a lot of people have played the early demo, that was packaged with a number of games, and magazines. But after I played it again, It made me remember that there was a lot taken out of the FF8 demo. I actually noticed some bizarre conversations during the demo, which totally alters the entire FF8 story compared to the final FF8 game. For example, I honestly belive that Squall and Seifer were actually friends when the story was originally being made. Plus, why did Square take out the funny scene with the dog? It is these events and more that were significantly changed during the development of this game. Some of you probably already know about these changes, but a lot of gamers at my school do not. Its something to think about... (vidiots curious)

Also, notice that Quistis is not the one behind the gun, and Rinoa is in the final vid instead of Selphie. AND, I think the uniforms were different.

Ya, I've noticed all those changes..... Plus, fro the demo where Rinoa is changed to Selhpie, according to the demo to the game, Rinoa was a summoner....At first, when I first saw FF8 through the demo before I got the game....I thought the girls would be the summoners and white mages and the guys would be the main attackers and black mages.
I don't know if you guys noticed or not but comparing to the sounds of when Leviathan is being summoned.... I've noticed that the sound of Leviathan being summoned in the demo was different from the entire game. I dunno if you guys noticed, but since i am AWESOME memory of sounds, I was able to sense(or more like 'hear') that.

In the demo the characters were in their "casual" cloths. And the entire beach landing, I belive is where they "decided" that the game was going to begin...hmmm... It makes you wonder what was some of their early ideas on other FF games.

The scene with the dog was changed. Seifer still gets annoyed by him in the final game, but In the demo the dialog was changed and I think the dog licks Seifer several times :-)

This is just the way demos are built.
You aren't seeing a preliminary game, what you are seeing is the company trying to show off a few game elements in one contiguous scene.
Ex: In FF7's demo, you started out with Summoning spells, and a party.
Ex: In FF8's demo, you start with a party and cool cinemas, (albeit altered for continuity of the demo)
The demo is slapped together from parts of the game that ARE done, like the character's primary outfits, characters you won't use for a while, etc etc.
That's all. That being said, ANY differences from the demo are going to be small, and generally reflect troubleshooting the demo for time and/or bugs in play.
