I think that Squaresoft may be willing, but as long as Yamauchi is president of Nintendo, there's a better chance of seeing the devil dance a naked hornpipe on the roof of a ghetto Mercedes."...ghoulies and ghosties and long leggety beasties and things that go bump in the night..."

Yep, everything was fine and dandy before, and that's what square remembers. Nintendo, however, remembers otherwise, and they are going to be the ones that put up the most trouble.

From my not-exactly-extensive reading on the topic, it seems like the guy from Nintendo is pretty much "over my dead body" about the whole Square-Nintendo alliance every appearing again. But, I guess to an extent you can understand where he's coming from. Nintendo would've been raking in the cash if they'd been able to keep Sony away from the Final Fantasy brand. Every RPG-playing gamer in the world would have a Nintendo system again.katyjag, a young revolutionary...

The president of Nintendo is a very stubborn man filled with too much pride. He seems to be deeply hurt by Square's disicion to leave Nintendo despite their logical argument that cds were a better medium than cartridges. He also does not give a damn about money, so even though Square would make Nintendo money, he doesn't want Square making money off of Nintendo. A port of FFXI to all systems would be simple, and just make square oodles of money. They don't care about Square anymore, they feel betrayed. Its that simple.
