The gaming world is replete with cynicism, for a very good reason: there are some individuals out there who get their jollies from the false manifestation of sadistic power by forcing hardworking (if nave) gamers to go through immense hardships and impossibly difficult and time-consuming quests, only to find that their trusting natures have been utilized against them to no end except to steal hours from their lives which they will NEVER get back.
I myself explored the possibility of the Aeris revival to the fullest extent I was capable of, filling three memory cards with strategic save points throughout the game in order to best access the areas which various 'sources' on the Internet claimed were necessary for reviving Aeris. I certainly lost many things in the process: my time, my life, my pride, my memory cards, my trust in humanity. What did I gain? Nothing but a permanently calloused left thumb with a D-Pad imprint and a PlayStation console with a damaged disc cover from when I slammed my fist upon it in frustration.
Three years have done little to ease my pessimism.
I don't know why you feel the need to continue propogating false hope and shattered trust among those who frequent these boards. If you truly believe you've found the secret of Aeris' resurrection, please, feel free to post valid, documentable and reproducible facts and methods at your leisure. But until then, my nature compels me to stand by my jaded

Anyways, they're all right 'kalaron', it can't be done. Square has denied that it can be done, and although there are seemingly 100's of people who say it can, and has been, not ONE bit of evidence has been found.
Surly SOMEONE who's done this, something that everyone says can't be done, must have videotaped it, or captured it onto their computer. I mean, if this is something that NOBODY believes in, and you can (supposedly) do it, imagine how everyone would react if you were to PROVE it! BUT...since it can't be done, it can't be proven, so this is all pointless.
And what the hell does this mean?:
"I tried this and it works on my PlayStation, but I'm not sure if it works with ALL PlayStations or not."
Oh...surrrrrrre.....it must be YOUR playstation that allows you to do this. By saying that, you can just say "Nah nah, my PSX lets me do it and yours doesn't". There have been practically ZERO technological changes in the playstations, no matter what version it is (aside from the ones missing the serial port). If anything, someone who's looking to cover their ass will say that it can be done with their COPY of the game, suggesting that Square had put it in one version or build, and removed it for the rest. Sorry, I don't accept the excuse.
I also love how there's a million different explainations on how to do this, ranging from the one you gave, to collecting something like 100 Shin-Ra dolls (as if dolls would make someone come back to life).
Look, we're NOT looking to flame you, and as we've ALL said...if you can do it, SHOW US, PROVE IT TO US. MAYBE, then we will believe you. Seriously, if its so easy to do, and can be done around the end of disc one, spend 15 hours or so and DO it! Record it to a tape if you have to and send it to me (screenshots can be easily altered), and if you're correct, then I'll let everyone know what you've found. Until then...er...no.

Kalaron
Hmmmmm... this is getting us nowhere!
Ok then, DON'T test my offer... but then, you'll be thinking.... hmmm, but what IF? I know i'm right, and I'm just hoping to prove to others that it's true.
You say SQUARESOFT themselves told you It can't be done? now that is VERY odd.... since Square DON'T repsond to ANY contact of ANY kind. Squaresoft have NEVER confirmed OR Denied the existence of ANY rumours in any or all of their games. Remember the Palidin Ring from FF6? you had to uncurse the cursed ring to get the Paladin one? now THAT rumour was circulating for YEARS and still is to this day, yet Squaresoft have never confirmed of denied it's existence. They just laugh.
I DON'T want to argue... but you said "until someone posts documented proof".... well, what the f**k have I done? I've posted documented proof. It's now upto you to prove me wrong. It's VERY easy to do... Kill Aeris... Goto Wallmarket.... Get Revive P..... go back to City of the Ancients.... Live happily ever after.
Hell... you don't even have to do that!! just goto Wallmarket and get Revive P.... if you can't get it, THEN you can call me a liar.
Ok, no more arguments... friendly DISCUSSION only. Cool? sweet.

Er....
A) We don't have to prove anything, and NONE of us are wondering "what if?". Drakkel hit this one right on the head.
B) Whether Square confirmed or denied anything, off or on the record is debatable. But SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE at Square has said that "reviving" Aeris or General Leo cannot be done without a game shark or related item, but someone has confirmed the connection between Shadow and Relm. So...yeah, you could say that they havn't OFFICIALLY stated it, but there's no need to.
C) Er...it kinda goes against the story. What would be the POINT of "reviving" a character who's DEATH ties into the PLOT. Hm...oh wait, there is no reasoning behind it since it can't be done.
D) I've spent too much time on this post/thread already, since we all know that its not true, and as I said, if YOU want to do it, and PROVE it, I'd be glad to see. Like I said, even if its you just running the PSX through a VCR and taping this in, what do you say, half an hour, and sending the tape to me, that's all I'd need. BUT...since hundreds of gamers have spent tens of thousands of hours trying to do something like this, and ALL failed, I'm not going to believe anything until I see it.

Not to mention with all the Square affiliates we've had in and out of CHV -- let alone out on the entire expanse of the internet -- I guarantee you
SOMEONE knows
SOMEBODY at Square...
Things don't have to be this way.
Catch me on a better day.

If that's the case, maybe they can clear this little tidbit up, taken straight from SquareSoft's FAQ:
"Although many Internet sites have reported various rumors about our upcoming titles, we have no plans to re-release Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX for the PS2. Please keep in mind that we have not confirmed or stated any of the information you may have read about in the U.S. regarding the re-release of those games."

Fyre Ball
Hi, this sure is an interesting board to just lurk at, and read the topics. But this one is very interesting. I would be inclined to think that Aeris can't be revived. Square didn't have time to put two alternative paths in. What about that huge sequence at the ancient city with Bugenhagen. They'd have to just completely take that sequence out. Plus, at the end who summons up the lifestream, AERIS. She has to be IN the lifestream to do that. If she hadn't done that at the last minute, everything would have been doomed. If she had been revived, who would summoned the lifestream, Infalna? Don't think so.
They should have added it in, but they didn't. TOO Bad. Get a Gameshark.

Capitalize on the fact that they added Aeris to discs two and three.
Fyre Ball Behold the power of the small sig.talking in the title has deteriorated a lot
