Not including the card game addiction...
Just curious.

Ummm, well my last savegame was at 100 hours, but a good chunk of that was the card game addiction I remember when I rented FF8 from a video store that in 6 days, I had about 69 hours logged. I was right near the end (Ultimecia's Castle) but I couldn't go any further because my characters levels were too crappy because I didn't spend any time building them up. So if you don't want to get involved in the cards, I'd say you're looking at about 75 hours to beat the game with the majority of the other secrets and sidequests.

Right now I am playing FF7 again Yay! I had Cloud's Omnilash before I was even finished the first disc , so this time things are a little more interesting. Although killing the bosses in 2 or 3 hits can take the excitement out of the game a little Lol
Anyway, good luck on your FF8 playing....

Hmmmmmmm...I think it was around 60 hrs without the card game, which was around an additional 30 hrs. I spent a lot of those hours leveling up, but it was worth it when I went into Ulti's castle and wanted to fight the bosses and the weapon. Man, he's hard!Every action has the potential to fill or empty one's heart...587495...

I think I was about sixty hours like everyone else. Then a few more goes through on top of that...I have spent a lot of my life playing that game, I think.

~45 hours in one month.
For comparison Final Fantasy VII was ~67 hours in nine days.
Final Fantasy IX was about ~40 hours in 4 months.
You can see a pattern here...-Spok-

-_-;; 130+hrs over 2 months. *sniff* LoLzz
I loved the game so much I was dreading moving on from the end of disc 3.. I did every tiny little thing I could to keep the game going (ie: cards, side quests, leveling up just about every damn thing I could, drawing 100 of every magic that I could junction well, ummm.. yeah u get the picture)
How very sad indeed. But then when I beat every single thing in the entire game, it felt good.. LoLzMRk MRK n FnK Mz

Me too. I remember just before I decided to fight Ultimecia I thought to myself "ohhhhh!!! This is the last time ever I'm not going to know how the story turns out!" I was really in to it all, the suspense of wondering what was going to happen. I thought the story was great in that game.

First play : at least 120 hrs.
Yep , we all wanted the game to go on and on and on ...
Last play (10th time): 40 hrs.
Playing competitively . 40 hrs without intentional save games and without dying at all . (1 memorable event: Defeated Ultima Weapon by the skin of the teeth ... just after all my characters got beamed , the big phoenix thing appeared and everybody revived ... just in time for a renzokuken and fortunately followed by a lionheart ... phew) Lost in the overall competition , though aThe beginning of Eternity, the end of Time ...b
