Why did they pick Selphie?! She's so annoying!! Also, why does Tidus have some sort of jo/bo/large stick rather than the sword he has in everything I've seen about FFX?katyjag

I think they're trying to go for a completely juvenile audience with this one...therefore, no actual weapons. Sort of sucks. I hope it's not going to be another "Final Fantasy Mystic Quest".

Hey! Sticks are real weapons!! *mortally offended because she is buying a bo for her kobudo training tomorrow* Disney rpg...even with Square on board you can't help thinking it might turn in to another MQ.katyjag

Saying "with Square on board" is a bit misleading statement. SquareSoft is the company who is developing the game. Disney is supplying the Disney name and characters. It's NOT a Disney game, but an actual SquareSoft game.
I still see this partnership between Disney and SquareSoft unecessary. These two companies have no business with eachother and that's what makes this game so intriging. A Disney/Square partnership does one thing immediately: creates the hype to sell the game. I fear that Square is falling into the trap of the gimmick title. I hope not. I hope this game is really enjoyable. The feeling I get however has been that this game will have no brain, nor a heart.

Ya'know, I don't think FF charicters belong in a "kiddie game". No offense but I really hated Chocobo Racing and Chocobo Dungon 1@2. I really thought both were giant flops, and that square had learned there lesson...ugh...
I hope that Dysney is only supplying a brand name here, I would hate if they got more involved with SquareSoft. I've heard some rumors that Dysney was considering of *gasp*buying square*gasp* but I honestly doubt that... But it is something to think about, can you imagine what type of effect that would do the FF series?

The screen of FF11 appears on the screen, Tidus watches his hometown being destroyed...And utters two words that would hurt the ears of FF gamers around the world forever: "Gosh Darnit!" :-p

My God, you have a twisted mind. The very notion of Squaresoft becoming a Disney phallus is simply sickening.

You don't see why they'd have a partnership?
Why not? Square's reputation (as well as loyal fan-boys) as well as Disneys name recognition (as well as all associated characters) can easily turn into a nice profit for both parties.
Got the Disney logo on it? Parents will buy it.
If it actually turns out to be a decent game? The rest will follow.
