Okay.. I rented it, several times.. I finished it, in about 80 hours... I took my time, completed side quests.. whatnot.
It was not a bad game. It was not -the best- game, but it wasn't bad either. I enjoyed it, I did.. there were slow spots, there were questionable spots, there were dissapointments... but it was still an enjoyable game.
I wont't rent it again, I definately will not buy it, but I will play it again if given the free opportunity.

It's not that bad, it's just not that good either. Still better than just about any non-FF game out there, imho, just not as good as the usual FF fare. It *was* a good game though.

FF9 was good. More like something to pay tribute to the old FF games. It was not great, it did not meet my expectations. The story was recycled plot from past FF games, and I fealt that the combat was a little to easy. (probably after I poured some 150 hours to FF8! :-p)
What I fealt was wrong was the story, and I think thats the reason not alot of people(s) liked it. Too much of the same, and lets face it. While Kuja was better than Ultimeca, he was still pathetic as a bad guy (opinion)

My only gripe with FF9 is what I assume was lost in the translations. All the in-jokes to past FF games - I didn't see a lot of them, and this was supposed to be an homage of sorts.-Spok-

There were a few, like the Cloud/Squall reference(thats all I can remember cause it was pointed out to me several times =P). "No Cloud nor Squall shall hinder us." or something.
I thought Kuja's dragon was cool until it started whupping my ass. =P
