10bucks a month is just to play on playonline..hmm
its been confirmed at $10USD/m and compared to everquest or UO which you have to pay for hours (i think?) it's probably better
most often than not im sure the broadband connection will be able to connect through your pc.. that is how i connected my dreamcast to the net.. through 1 lan card to another into my cable isp. but im not sure about the ps2 yet.. we'll have to wait and see.
hopefully they wont make it so everyone would have to join another isp.. (errr. aol.. yeah.. right) and make us pay for another isp.. ugh "yare yare.. CLICK ME!!!"

Spokker Jones
If people can't use their dial up connects or DSL and Cable connects, no one will play FF11, period. If they can, expect this game to do very very well.
EverQuest is 10 dollars a month by the way.-Spok-

PlayOnline will be free.
Yes, you heard me.
FREE.
...
That is, if this link is correct.

Quote:
"In order to play Final Fantasy XI, players will have to purchase the optional PlayStation 2 hard-drive/Ethernet bundle. In an interesting twist however, Square CEO Yoichi Wada said there would be no charge for accessing the PlayOnline network. Square originally planned to charge players a monthly fee to access the service. According to Wada-san, Square hopes offering the service on a free basis will attract more users and lead to higher software sales. It's currently unknown whether Square plans to implement a monthly service charge for future games."
I'll wait until other game sites start picking up on this story before breaking out the champagne.

Yeah. I'm not too thrilled about this, though:

I think I'll stick with balancing a normal keyboard on my lap and holding a normal controller with my hands.

I think it looks kinda cool, but it seems like it would get really heavy after a while, and it's extremely bulky.

I think I'd go for a keyboard/controller pair, rather than use that big old contraption!

Some FMV, some gameplay. While I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on the atmosphere of the game, the trees near the beginning are absolutely fabulous.
