ORIONSAINT
In terms of the actual written music in most FF games. It's genius. Now in terms of actual quality, well I wish they'd go with real sounding music, instead of the midi crap. I would think FF10 would have real music. I mean I hope. Finally having voiced characters is exciting as well. Can't wait.

I think that though Mitsuda is a very good composer his work just doesn't get to the level of Uematsu's work.
The compositions of Uematsu are just so much more complex and lately (FFVIII) they've been somewhat experimental which brings a whole new originality to his music.
Listen to his piano works and you'll be able to hear the complexity (is that a word?) of his songs.
Also I think that Uematsu always seems to succeed in attaching certain memories to his works. When I hear a random song of the FFVIII OST I instantly remember beautiful pieces of the game.
Well to make a short story even shorter:
Nobuo Uematsu ROCKS!!!

I really think that music from the Final Fantasy Series is some of the best music there is, period. I have listened to a lot of the songs from FF7 and FF8 over and over many times, and I still love them. I went back through the songs and made a list of my Favorite songs from FF6, 7, and 8.
FF6:
Terra's Theme
FF7:
Anxious Heart (Midgar Slums Music)
Tifa's Theme
Aeris Theme (Her house theme, and Orchestrated theme)
World Map Theme
Chasing the Black Caped Man (Cave Music) ?
The Sandy Badlands (Desert Theme)
The Great Warrior (Seto's Theme)
The Forrested Temple (Temple of The Ancients)
Buried in the Snow (Snow Village Theme)
One Winged Angel (End Sephiroths Theme)
Cry of the Planet (Correl Valley Theme)
Chosen By the Planet (Sephiroth Burns Nibelheim)
FF8:
Liberi Fatali (Opening Music)
Find Your Way (Esthar Cave music)
Julia (Julia's Theme)
My Mind
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec
Fragments of Memories
Ami
Love Grows
The Salt Flats
Silence and Motion (Esthar Office Theme)
Eyes on Me
Lunatic Pandora
Compression of Time
If you don't recognize the song titles, it might be hard to know which song is which, that's why I put in descriptions where I could remember. Anyone else care to share their alltime favorite Final Fantasy Songs???
