Lol...Misato isn't a very good owner, no. And the whole being a fresh-water penguin...messing with nature...
Why do people have such a problem with religious content in anime? (That's a serious question, I really don't understand it. I would count myself as religious and I thought Eva was fantastic.)katyjag

People have a problem with religious content in general, but especially when it affects their kids. Why? Because they don't want their kids asking questions they can't answer, they want to brainwash their kids when their young in order to "instill values."
Edit: Also, anime always has, and prolly always will be, viewed as something for children in mainstream America. That's why parents fucking tweak when they see something like Kite, Vampire Hunter D, Spriggan or Akira, something that's not made in the same vein as Tom and Jerry. Be happy, I guess, this means less fake fandom.

Hmm...sorry to resurrect an old topic but this is interesting. The Sci-Fi channel in the UK has just started broadcasting Evangelion, at 10am on Saturday mornings, a time when most kids watch tv. Crazy. Haven't found anything about cuts in it yet though.

Hm, I havn't seen anything about that, but I imagine even Sci-Fi will have to make at least a few cuts here and there in order to show it on TV.
Afterall, as far as most people are concerned, these "cartoons" shouldn't contain the violence or the sexual frustrations (among other things) of Shinji on TV for kids to see (that's for the R-rated movies that their parents bring them to... ).
And I guess I do have to ask...which language is it being shown in?

You really need to ask?
