Appologies for returning to the original topic. But I just wanted to add my 2 cents.
I really loved Evangelion. And it is definitly one of my favourite animes. I believe I enjoyed it so much because it dealt with the kind of issues and feelings I was having at the time (no giant robot jokes please

). A lot of people look at Eva and say liked the big robots and the fighting but completely lose it when it tried to talk about "ideas" rather than something obvious.
But it is great because it is an extreemly deep, and thought provoking anime. Remember the story is often just a vehicle for and Idea the director wants to convay.
