You know, there are a lot of good dubs out there. Maybe Gesthar should listen to some instead of always switching to the Japanese first thing before he starts the movie. :P

rKassim, mayhap you should get some info before making a comment like that.

I didn't watch one (english)dub and declare them all bad; I grew up watching (english)dubs. If the anime was meant to be in English, it'd be made in America, or England, or in an English speaking country. But hey, it's not, it's made in Japan; where they speak JAPANESE. Truthfully, I really don't like any form of re-dubbing; even when english stuff is brought over to Japan, I think they should sub it. The fact that Kingdom Hearts is being redubbed, even though Hailey Osment does a fan-fucking-tastic job as Sora( they put Mandy Moore in as Aerith, WTF?

), has me all in a tizzy because I sincerely doubt it will have the option for the j-dub. You want a good, broad example of english dubbing? Go watch "Card Captors" on whatever channel it's on, where they cut out the first 8 episodes in order to make the anime appeal to both boys and girls. Or maybe you should watch Ronin Warriors, where the original anime was sliced up SO BAD for the dub that the DVD's released are dual-layered; one side with the dub, the other side 100% un-fucked-around with. OR, mebbe you should check out FOX's little Escaflowne experiment. Anyhoo, I don't care to win this arguement again, so lets stop discussing it right now.

hehe ok Gesthar. :P So you prefer "orginal" audio tracks, right?
But there are some really good dubs out there. Anything from Manga I would prefer in english. Anyone seen BLOOD the last vampire?
Escaflowne "experiment." What you talking about?

Blood the Last Vampire is an appaling dub. Ok, I like the film and I even have a copy of it on dvd, but the English voice acting in it is terrible. But then if you asked me to voice-act in Japanese it wouldn't even turn out half as good as the seiyuus' efforts in Blood.
Just to throw a question in to this endless debate...to the sub-supporters (of which I am one

) are there any films/series that you've seen where you preferred the English dub? I just ask because I watched Metropolis not long ago, in full in both the Japanese and English dubs, and I have to admit I actually preferred the English dub. It seemed to fit a lot better with the character design and the atmosphere of the movie.

FOX took Escaflowne, which really isn't a kids show, and hacked it to pieces to make it more kid friendly. THey were marketing it towards the pokemon audience, so the end result was a great piece of animation with a story that made no sense and literally hours cut out of it.
And Blood was done in English IN Japan, then redubbed later in Japanese in Japan for Japanese speaking audiences. That's why the voice acting was so emotionless.

I know, that's why I said I couldn't do better in Japanese.

That wasn't meant as a reply to you, Katy, I wrote that while you were writing yours, SO I didn't read yours until after I posted mine. :P
