Hellooo... my name is Ren, and I am a Sailor Moon fan.
Yes, it's true.
My admiration of anime started way back when I was but a little nose-drooling child. My saturday mornings were spent staring at the TV screen as it displayed "Funny looking big eyed cartoons" and "Giant awesome robots in space!", more commonly known as perhaps Astroboy and Voltron. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Little Prince, and the 10am fairytale films like Swan Lake, or Arabian Nights.
You know, I was really upset when Sven departed... seems like I was the only one too.
As I matured, so did my taste. However, I still thoroughly enjoy these simplistic, summed-up-in-a-half-hour-(sorta!) shows.
There are great pieces of work out there, such as Ghost in the Shell, Vision of Escaflowne... and yes... Sailor Moon. Then there are the ones you watch and love simply because they hold a fond (read: shocking) place in your heart, such as Ninja Scroll, Legend of the Overfiend, Fist of the North Star...
Nothing beats being stupefied by meer visuals alone.
Then we have pieces of beauty and tragedy, such as Wings of Honneamise, Barefoot Gen, and Grave of the Fireflies. And lets not forget to mention ones that are humorous yet touching like Love Hina.
Okay.. anyway, my point is... in all anime there is a grade of beauty, or intensity, spectacular storyline, or gripping plot twist. And I refuse to name favorites.
Ren... on a tangant, and had WAY too much pepsi.

chinese dubs don't seem too bad ...
big robot anime ... hmm ... escaflower(heard of it , seen a lot of teasers, but never got to watch it. Cool effects) , dual(EVANGELION RIPOFF ! Er ... well, almost...) , evangelion(er ... big human) gundam series, Patlabor(the police robot or sumthin)Macron(er ...) Valkyrie... anymore ? I think I missed sumthin ...
Anybody watched Nie4_7 ? Strange anime , almost as strange as Gravatation was to me .
Hmmm ... I should start another thread to classify all the anime out there ...

Sailor Moon owns you.
Anyway, these are the anime series I think you should see.
CowboyBebop (Eh.. get the DVD, dont watch it on that god-awful toonami, CB isn't just damn damn damn good anime, its damn damn damn damn wonderful television, endearing characters, and variety)
Saber Marionette J (wonderful example of character development)
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (His and Her Circumstances, a narrative style in which the main character talks talks talks, at first you don't enjoy the characters but they soon start to grow on you)
Card Captor Sakura (an alternative to sailor moon, magical girl show with a monster every episode, hero waves her wand, show is over, repetitive, but Sakura's charm, and the series' presentation keeps you interested)
ReBoot (Not anime, but a fun show about the world inside the computer filled with puns, campy saturday morning stuff)
Kodomo No Omocha (a series that never ever loses its direction, and never ever has a boring ending to any episode, an insane, crazy, romantic, moving love story about a 10 year old child actress)
Ed (ermm...NBC... good.. not animation but... AHHH i can try...)

ColdUnseen: It's called NieA Under 7, it's this weird anime about aliens who live on earth with humans, and they have an antenna on the top of their head, it's weird. i saw it at Anime Expo 2001, it doesn't look too bad
So there's my 2.5 :-)
