All english dubs in anime suck!! and in almost al the game too. I prefer spanish dubs, but not from Spain, from Latin america excluding Brazil and Argentina. I mean:
1. The kid voice:are mostly extremly childish and always uses words like "awesome!!, Cool!!, yeah!!, alright!!, wait up guys!!, in between others..
2. the girl voice: always have a wierd tone, use the words, "No way!!, Hey!!, No way! yeah right!!, Oh oh!! did I mention No way?" screams and laughter are very lame.
3. Hero voice: almost always laughs. use words like: "I will beat him!, Come on!, I will defeat you!!, You will die now!!, huh? w-what?, hahaha, noooooooooo!!" also wierd tones and screams like powering up and when they are wounded are extremly lame!!
4. Villian name: if its a BIG bad guy they use a VERY deep voice that is almost impossible to understand the same as if its an old lady, its very oldy and it impossible to understand, and don't get me started with the mosters, you can just hear little shreiks, sometimes laughter, always have a silly monsterly tone that is impossible to understand as well. use words like: "You will never defeat me, I will kill you, HAHAHAHA don't make me laugh!, I am immortal!, hmpf!, tsk tsk tsk, werdimetrly garmetime muahahah meflyshi tomatiras gnfdg greieyus hihihi aaauioifff now you will die!!! (thats when its impossible to understand).
5. old man voice: very elder voice almost never understandable. use words like: "Be careful, when I was your age (my grandpa says that always too)" cough too much!
6. good villian (Vegeta type): has a non-human voice. use word like: "I will beat him, damn you!!, I am the best!!!, I will NOT be defeated!" don't laugh much.
7. villian disciple voice: very exagerated voices and wierd tones also. use words like "yes master, yes my lord, I will take you to my lord now, you will die!, hahaha! you thought you could defeat me?" grouns and screems are also very lame. usual laugh also ina wierd way.
8. side kick voice: the voices are always very positive and happy. use words like "No way!, I will help you!, heheh you're right!, go and defeat the bad guy and avenge my death..., help!" dont laugh that much.

There are exceptions though, I'd say.
"Princess Mononoke", for one, was rather well done. Perhaps to some purists, not as good as the original, but good enough to justify the price of the DVD.

I agree with BuMz. Jap with Eng subs. And as good as Spanish may be (and it's not that good in most animes, believe me) I prefer the two main languages the videos or DVDs come out on.Every action has the potential to fill or empty one's heart...587495...

"Belive me" No I wont, becuase I live in a Latin country and all of them rock. DB, DBZ, and DBGT spanish dubs are aprox. 1,000,000 time better than the english dubs, The same goes with Salior Moon, Rurouni Kenshin, Pokemon (not that I see it), Sakura Card captors, Saber Marionete J and J to X. I can go on for all day... I also watch japanese with engish subs, mostly all the anime I watch is like that.
Princes Mononoke is an exception becuase they have REAL actors, and I think it was the original language, then came the dubs....

The japanese voice actors use exaggerated voices too. The girl has a high pitched voice, the hero has a hero voice, the big fat guy has a deep voice, the villian always go HA HAHA HAHAHA or whatever. They also use a lot of the same phrases you pointed out. Exagerated archtype voices aren't why dubs suck. Dubbing is bad because it is not the original voice work. It is a DIFFERNT company doing voice work. A different company that has had no influence on the series or film UNTIL they were summoned for an english version. Then again, how can you tell that the japanese voice acting is all that great in animation. Most of us don't know japanese, so it just sounds good to us.
In any case, how would you like it if you were the voice of a character in an anime and then they told you the anime was going to america but YOU wern't going to be in it anymore. -Spok-

i hate english dubbed hentai, the female actors sound so fake, especially in the sex scenes

Ha, Ramzus. I have watched the DB-whatever episodes in Spanish, and really, it's better than English, certainly so, but it's not as good as it can be. The problem with Spanish translations is that the same actors appear to do the voices for all the animes available. No matter what you're watching, you'll probably hear the same voice for the male actor, the same voice for the female lead, etc. I have seen this with mine own eyes. At least the English versions change dubbers a little (though I have to think there is some recycling of voices in there). And well, I live in Texas, where a lot of kids that speak Spanish buy the anime DVDs, and watch it in Spanish, so I know.

there's only one english dub that i would ever like
its the 80's eng. dub of laputa when it first came out
that dub was made to be entered in an international contest so the quality was VERYY good. it also won the grand prize
