Yeah, I've *finally* finished watching it, ancient as it may be by everyone elses's standards, I just never had the opportunity to see it before. I watched both endings for it, ie the series and End of Eva (that's a sick sick twisted movie....) Um, one question though: what the...?!?! Does someone have a nice explanation of what actually Evangelion is about, or can they point me in the direction of one. (Oooh...and if they know a good site about the symbolism (religious and otherwise) in the series, that's cool. That's the bit I was really interested in.) Cheers. img>

People have written their thesis on Eva before.. it would be hard to summarize shorthand what the anime is about, besides the obvious plotline minus he intricacies.
Angels are a threat, boy mans the mecha to fight the angels. Boy struggles with his self recognition, his purpose, and his father.
There, a summary.. but you already knew all that up there ^^... what you want to know, only you can speculate on, because there are hundreds of different opinions and ways to explain the ommited intricacies; the true story, the true climax, and true conclusion. Eva IS a thinkpiece... so enjoy thinking about it ::grin::

Thinking about it...hehehe, this was the subject of much shouting when the anime soc got to Macdonald's having sat though the last half of it. I wish I could write my dissertation on Eva...dunno how I could work that in to Egyptology though. katyjag

the only thing realistic about this show is how the evas need a plug to get electricity in order to move
no electricity = no contol
that's my own opinion...bakamatai

Keep in mind that Evangelion, like most anime, wasn't meant to be realistic...

The whole thing about evas and plug though is a bit of a mess cause eventually all that stuff about AT fields and them being able to move on their own (actually, that happens in episode one (I think), doesn't it? When Shinji gets shielded from debris by 01?) Even the energy source thing wasn't that realistic eventually...but then the end of Eva (and especially End of Eva itself!) is a big old messy of freaky stuff, imo. katyjag

You know, I tried that, I even tried getting my friend who is Japanese and obssessed with Evangelion to explain it to me, but the end of that series is still a big old mess to me. katyjag
