Yeah, ebay is pretty cool for anime, only thing is half the time the sellers put "will only ship to United States" on their auctions. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I'm just about to bid for it and I think oh yeah, I don't live in the United States, do I? katyjag

Besides, would you like to pay the additional international shipping and tarrifs, as well as wait for the package to cross the seas and get cleared by customs? I would think it would be easier to get it through other means.

I have that problem right now. I'm trying to buy a Totoro toy from a seller in LA. The actualy item is $25 but the postage is $20, or $27 if I wanted it insured! But I love Totoro with something of an obssession, so... I think most of the time sellers get round it by pretending the item is a gift and not sold merchandise cause I think they avoid certain tarrifs that way. There's not really that many other ways to get stuff like Totoros here though. katyjag

That avoids the tariff, but the shipping is still a lot. A simple DVD I ordered from Japan came to about $50, about $30 than most DVD's in the US. Cost me over $15 to ship another disc from France too.
Its expensive.
There aren't any anime places in the UK that sell this stuff? There has to be somewhere...

Anime places in the UK? I wish. There are random sci-fi/weird culture shops that sell Dragonball/Sailor Moon/Gundam stuff (ie the five or so anime shows that ever get shown on UK TV, and then only cable) but since Mononoke is about the only Ghibli film that's had a decent release in this country it doesn't surprise me all that much that they don't sell Totoro stuff. Maybe if I searched round London for one of the Japanese supermarkets I might find something, but apparently they tend to sell manga generally. Having said that, there is a national season of Ghibli films at the moment (and they're showing in Oxford, and I'm watching them! Yaaaaay!! Totoro next week! ) so *maybe* people will realise one day...
Is the sig a reference to the allegedly evil dub, btw? I say allegedly cause I haven't heard it yet. It better not be that horrible because I've just gotten very fond of Love Hina and if it is I'll join the "army" too. katyjag
