I think I figured it out.
Nerds are school-smart and geeks are computer-smart.

I think its more like any other term, it depends if its being used by or against someone.
"Nerd" would be the same as calling someone a "crazed anime freak with no life or reason for living", while "geek" would be more like "otaku".
I'm a geek, but damnit, I'm not a nerd.

Geeks are internal -- a zen -- and Nerds are more external, they exuberate the nerdiness.
Thats the modernization of it anyway in my opinion. Thinking Geek isnt bad anymore, but looking and being the nerd still sucks.

i prefer being called a geek rather than a nerd. "nerd" has a sort of negative connotation to it, i think.

geeks are cool, nerds are not.
geeks are oldschool, nerds are not.
geeks know how, nerds know not.
nerds are the ones who sit in IPT (information tech) class making stupid VB programs that have code like "netsend xxxxx "you suck. hehe"".. oh why do i even know.. ::rolls eyes::
geeks are the people who own ataris. 'nuff said.
