I met a lot of private school people when I started uni. They're not all that bad, really...some of the people I thought were from private schools weren't, and some of the people I thought weren't. I wouldn't want to go to one, but I don't feel so weirded out by private school types any more.

That's so true miso, ranks is all that counts now. If you get like 40% and that's the highest mark in the class, then it's alllll good.
Class Rank is a bitch, makes you hate everyone else in your class.. heh..
And "HEY!" I go to a private school, why is that so strange? Private schools aren't that big a deal over here.. why wouldn't you wanna go to one katy? Just outta curiousity. MRk MRK n FnK Mz

why is it strange to go to private school? well let me think .. not everyone is rich to afford that! private thus private funding. not every parent make 100Gs a year.
oh and that ranking system u were talking about, lets just say that alot of kids will run away from home because the parents know for sure that their kids arnt #1 in the school so they beat the shit out of them (oh you know what im talking about especially us asians)
Its allll about public schools!
broken restrooms, sub par teachers, lunch full of lard and roaches, narks that give out random searches on your backpacks, gym coaches that watch naked guys showering. heck it CANT get any better then that!
After having public school i can never be grosed out by anything, i see a subculture that inclued racial and class hierchy that definately relates to the real world. you see some nice sporting events such as two mexicans trying to beat the shit out of eachother.
in the parking lot you see the asians with rice rockets and mexicans in their low riders and rednecks in there domestic trucks. you have your nerd, jocks, gangs, people who want to be left alone and all in all i think there are the teachers in the middle trying to cope with the fact that they have no lives and they live in fear because their students might eventually kill them witha modified spork!
public school in my opinion is kind of a semi prison that traps kids for the day, monday - friday making them a hardened member of society I bet you anyhting that 10 time out of 10 some public school kid will kick te shit out of some private school kid (i dont think there is any doubt). oh and no uniforms its a bad idea. the idea that making everyone dress alike will bring order, DONT THESE PEOPLE GET IT? its bad as it is to make the kids think alike now they want them to dress alike too? Im telling ya i saw stuff like this in old news reals but i couldnt understand anything becasue the narrations were in German!
i would like to really get down to the core problem with this but ill stop for now. i bet Katy Moon or JIM ... oh ya JIM will have something to rant about for once.
ok someone else take it away im out of breath...

I just don't like the idea of it. Possibly private school has a completely different image over here than in Australia. Here it's just for people who do earn a LOT of money and some (not all, but some) of those people seem to have an elitist attitude because of it. My family don't have a lot of money and I think I fitted in better at the schools that I went to. I don't think it would have affected things really if I had though, because I still got to a uni where the majority of the other students are from private schools. The difference with being with people from all kinds of education at uni is that you've all proved yourselves to get to the place you are, it's not somehwere you can pay to go to so money isn't really an issue (except when you get to the *really* posh colleges and the uni institutions, which I'm leaving alone. ) That's just the way I see it here. I've got lots of friends now who went to private school, so I'm not anti-private school students as a whole, but the way the system works in this country just doesn't seem very attractive to me even though it probably is better than public schooling.

The only difference between private and public schools(That I've seen in the US) is A.)Parents pay the school directly so their kids can go to school rather than through some backwards tax system, and B.)they have to wear uniforms. Other than that, it's pretty much the same.http://webpages.charter.net/gestahr/Movie1.swf

On monday I got to get my courses all changed. I am on all applied classes now. So when I get them changed to the academic, I will be a week behind all my classes. Geez, my school messes up so many people's courses. I could have gotten it done earlier, but the line-up all week had been massive. I am not going to stand in a line from 7:30am to like 9am to get them changed .

Yeah, private schools don't cost that much. My school is under 5k a year! lol.. that's like US$2,500! Not too bad..
Wearing uniform isn't too bad either. Actually, even public schools in Australia have at least SOME form of uniform.. it might only be a polo shirt or something, but I can't think of many schools that have full casual.
I've actually heard teachers at my school say that "Casual clothing makes students casual in attitude".. or some crap like that. Supposedly kids in uniform are gonna be diligent or something. Right.
There are few 'elitist' schools in Melb that I can imagine. The most expensive being up around AU$18k or so.. MRk MRK n FnK Mz
