my computer might be dead. i'm at my friend radha's house right now for a party for a friend, and i brought my box over for someone to look at. right now it boots with the message "primary hard disk fail" and i'm hoping they can fix it because 2+ years of my life is on that hard drive. my web site, pictures, videos, gigs of irreplacable data.
wish me luck guys, keep your fingers crossed

Data can always be saved. I would not Format. try making it (sec master or slave) even if your BIOS dose not deteck it. It may still show up when you start your OS.

no ok see it's the only hdd in entropy. it has the winxp install on it.
and cyberd, i couldn't care less about my pr0n. i have my entire website on there, all of my videos (not pr0n, not anime, but yes they're on there) like my fireworks stuff, and a couple gigs of video caps, pictures, etc...

Better put it in another computer... and if you do have to buy another drive, check try get a mobo that supports SMART. It is suppossed to warm you BEFORE disk failures and crashes happen.

doraemi, check your mobo for SMART . Otherwise, I'm leaving Toronto .
OR, you can all buy a Maxtor ATA133 80GB D740X .

well entropy is currently at the Jaini household. Raju is backlogged at least a week though (the entire Jaini family does something with computers) so it's going to be AT THE VERY LEAST a week.
i'm at my cousin's house, btw. it sucks not having a computer, i have nothing to do now before and after class... just work work work on school. i hope i don't lose the hdd, or i'm gonna cry. and i rarely cry.

Ditto. I've had some major computer problems in the past week, and I'll probably continue to have some in the coming few weeks.
Thankfully, I backed up most, if not all of my data (as I'm leaning towards my IBM Death Star being part of the problem), and although I preach backups constantly, I hadn't made any recently.
Nothing like having your computer go down during the first week of classes.
