Things you should see in japan hmm...
Chiba is basicly the area where you land once u come from the US. they say its the new tokyo airport but its really in Chiba (wierd huh?).
Tokyo... well lets say the most crowded place in the world. The rail system is confusing, things cost alot, the air is worse then los angeles, but you can find basicly anything there. its so confusing that you definately want a guide to help you. there are many sections to tokyo, sinjuku, Ginza, odaiba, etc basicly its seperated into fashion, general shopping, electronics, and a hang out. I recomend going to odaiba where the Rainbow bridge is. the bridge glows in many colors thus rainbow bridge you also can find some TV broad casting buildings/stations there fun place. check out mount Fuji if ya like.
in Kyoto you just step off the train and you basicly see the hisorical land scapes buildings and architectural structures (ie temples) it used to be japanese old capital the new one is tokyo.
Osaka hmm well much to see there but what you really want to do there is EAT! Osaka is well know for its food some noodles are good fish is god there and Takoyaki - a octopus limb in a soft pasty crust with sause best thing in the world.
Hiroshima you should deffinately go to the atomic bomb memorial I went there before and it was very depressing because there were alot of the elderly crying there. the educational value is super excellent better then college since you actually see where the bomb exploded.
Aomori...... i do not repeat do not recommend going there for "fun" the reason is that #1 they are famous for there apples and that tastes good but what Aomori is known for is the Osoreza (roughly translated "Feared mountain") it is said that that mountain is connected to the world of the dead and many visit to mourn for their loved ones that passed away. i dont know if u believe in ghosts or spirits but not a happy place to go. intresting maybe
Hokaido the most northern island is kind of different to the rest of japan, basicly it has open land for cows, and are famous for dairy products. i think they found a mad cow there or something.
kagoshima my home town! on the most south island of japan they have japans only breading ground for black pigs the best pork in the world for pork cutlets! An active volano is another cool aspect. not much large buildings though since its away from the capital. its back water (i allow permission to laugh)
Okinawa its basicly the farthest point in japan a remote island considered japan. famous for clean seas blue skys and chicks with bikinis (hehehe). their main thing is pineapples and sugur canes. but whats most intresting is the annual battle between a mongoose and a cobra (better then cock fighting). hot though.
ok basic stuff is that. but is you ask me get a travel guide jut to make sur u dont get lost. i recommend going on a tour group so u save money and time.
uh typed too much....
any questions class?

Yes. Do they actually pit a real-live snake against a real-live mongoose or is it like a symbolic thing?

I really want to go to Okinawa almost as much as Tokyo but that would turn my stomach.

Yes the mongoose and the cobras are real. its basicly an animal death match! basicly its not really symbolic but its a tourist attraction since okinawa is the only place that has mongooses. another cool thing is if the cobra looses you can put the corpse into a sake and have cobra sake (its supposedly a very strong sake)

Cyber is like a walking travel brochure! hahaha! How far is Kagoshima from Fukuoka/Hakata? I may start my journey from there, then work my way to Osaka, Kyoto and finish in Tokyo.
Most of the stuff I've been finding out about Japan is from the
Lonely Planet series on Japan. So far, they have been pretty comprehensive.. the book is well worth the AU$30 I paid for it.
When was the last time you went to Japan Cyber? Coz we've been having discussion as to how much it's gonna cost for accom and basic food etc.. I'm thinking 7,000 yen a night max.. Seeing as I'm going with 3 other people, this will make for cheaper stays.
All the money I save is gonna be going towards travel basically, the JR Rail Pass we want to get is over AU$1,000. Which allows for 21 days of unlimited access to JR line and other lines public transport (train and bus). Also, entry fees for temples, shrines, castles etc adds up..
Last thing, do you still have a place in Kagoshima Cyber?? Perhaps a place you could hook me up with? *grin*

Don't they hand out decorative arrows at shrines? Get a couple of those. They make fun stabby toys. And you can poke the person in front of you with them!
