Okay... so, last week I watched the original version "Ringu", and I thought it was damn good for the summarized plotline. I decided however, that the american version that came out recently, is probably more stunning visually, and would probably have a more dark edge... so I cheated and downloaded a vidcam file of it...
It's around 3am... I start watching the movie. It is definately more moody than the original, washed film is goodstuffs... and I felt it had a spookier edge to it as well. I'm nearing the end, theres about 20 minutes to a half hour left... I'm at this scene, where the mother is asking her son how he knew to draw this picture of a house.. a house he'd never seen... the son goes on to drop freaking lines about a "she" and "her"... "She shows me things."... the scene is building and building.. and just as he's about to answer his mothers final question regarding what else this girl showed him or.. whatever...
BANG!! ALL MY POWER GOES OUT.
And not only me.. for about five blocks radius I think.. total black out. No street lights even.. it was pitch black, I couldnt see a thing... and it was dead silent. So after catching my breath, I scramble over to my bed, open the drawer and look for my flashlight. I finally find it, and turn it on, and...
THE BATTERIES ARE DEAD.
All I can get is this pathetic little "barely even there" dark orange glow from the damn thing. And that little glow is slowly fading to nothing... so, I try to think about what to do, and it dawns on me... I should go check the fusebox...
WHICH IS IN THE BASEMENT.
Are you seeing the aweful string of events happening here? Geeze... okay, so, I get up my gusto (because sadly, I was feeling scared damnit!) and start heading downstairs. I reach the main floor, and head into the foyer to u-turn to the basement stairs. As I'm pausing to turn around...
SOMETHING RUBS UP AGAINST MY LEG.
Which made me actually jump! AND make a short little squeak sound! But.. it was my cat, Sushi... yes, the stereotypical "cat scares the next victim" bit. I did not hear him approach or follow me, or.. anything, didnt know he was there, and since it was pitch black and my flashlight was practically dead... well, it was so NOT a welcome sign of affection. So, after catching my breath and working up my gusto... again... I continue down the stairs to the basement... and as soon as I get down there?
The lights go back on.
