Can someone explain to me how to stop Windows Media Player crashing my PC EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to mp3s for more than about five minutes? Or failing that, how I make Winamp my default player for mp3 files.

Go into the WMP options and uncheck it as playing MP3's, go into WinAmp's prefs and tell it to monitor for MP3's.

I hope you are not using that new beta....
Try using WMP6.4. Should be called mplayer2.exe in your WMP folder. It is much more stable than the others.ATI - Driving the chemical reaction revolution

The Beta 9 is piss.

I installed it on my laptop and since then I've had nothing but problems with video, etc. :[not allowed

I have no problems with Media Player, since I only use it for playing video files, not music or any of its "extra" features.
I haven't tried the WMP9 beta, but as soon as the final WM9 encoder is available, I'm interested in seeing if it lives up to half the MS hype.
And Winamp is starting to go downhill again since 3.0. Too bloated compared to the earlier versions, such as ~2.8.
