To graduate from my high school we have to make a portfolio with 5 writing assignments that have perfect scores that we did in the course of being in highschool. No big deal, today they rounded us up in are 4th period class and sent us down to the "theatre" (where we have school play ) to discuss this process of graduating over...again. (We have heard it a bunch of times) The administrators for Lake Washington were there as well as our principle, vice principle and all the English teachers. During there half-hour speech, showing diagrams and such I was beginning to fall asleep. It was five minutes to lunch, it was around then when they asked for questions. When asking questions one would think the questions would be about things the teachers didn't talk about, this didn't seem the case for one girl in the back that I will refer to as "IT" for the remainder of my rant . To make a long story short, "IT" began asking dumb questions, things the teacher(s) obviously went over. Then the stupidity came, when I mean stupid questions...I mean stupid questions. The last question she asked was the pulling of the trigger to the gun for me: "What if the teacher doesn't like you? What if he/she grades you poorly and you cant graduate?"
This was ten minutes in my lunch...

"WHY DON'T YOU STOP ASKING QUESTIONS?! MY BUTT IS ASLEEP AND I WANT MY GODDAMN LUNCH!"
Yes...I said that. I am not making this up, I said that in front of my peers, the administrators, teachers, principles.........................and all of them laughed there asses off.
She shut up.
The principle shook my hand.
I have afterschool detention for 2 days.
It was worth it.

That was pretty much uncalled for, even if it was bothering you to that extent. Try to be a little more inventive, and damnit, just a BIT more discreet.
And yes (I might've mentioned this before), I had a similar situation where I DID have a 12th grade English teacher who was intent on making people she "didn't like" (I was pretty much on top of her list) miss graduation. It almost worked too, until the administration found out her plans, and more than enough proof that she had been intentionally changing grades of some of the students.
As far as those portfolios go, I'm split on them. In one end, they'd probably cut down on the brain-dead illiterates who are given diplomas, but they may not also properly reflect one's abilities (whether its writing or anything else). And since most of them tend to be evaluated by a single person, there's a pretty large margin of "error", possibly due to something as simple as a difference of opinion.

God damnit I'm glad highschool teachers have to follow the chariculum -- and protocols of grading -- strictly. I was in an alternative school for half a year, because of my dysomnia, and my english teacher decided that my "admittance" was subject to be removed if I did not go see her psychiatrist friend every week.
She seemed to misunderstand that not being able to sleep at night, and not wanting to get out of bed due to depression, are two very different things.
I went once, and the shrink wanted to feed me tranqs and an assortment of "balancing" medicines. I decided not to see her again. And so, I failed english...
Oh, and... that was harsh, you could have been a bit more subtle ::nod:: heh...

I guess I didn't say this when I was typing it, but she went off for a couple minutes explaining a "electrical disturbance" between the student and the teacher that set me off. "IT" has become a joke around in school...I almost feel sorry *giggle*
