OK. In case you guys didn't know, Australia just happens to be a really shite place to try and get a broadband connection. I guess it IS getting better with more competition forcing the prices down a little, but it's still a long way off the US.
In the next few months, I'll be changing over to ADSL so I've been checking out the prices and plans available.. I was just wondering what you guys (especially in the states) are paying a month, for what kinda data quotas, and for what kinda speeds.. thanks!

About $40 USD per month for Verizon ADSL, caps out at about 80 KB/s download. No data quota, at least none that I'm aware of or have hit. There's faster DSL available for the same amount, of course.---

$45/month via ATTBI cable. Dynamic IP via DHCP. 1700kbps/256. Max seen speed: 2200/313. Never been out in the past 4 months.
Personally i think DSL has been out dated. 4 years ago DSL was WAY better than cable. at the time DSL was like 784/128 while cable was 400/56 or even 400/0 (like Directway). But now Cable has gotten faster than DSL and much MUCh mroe reliable, especially dealing with only ONE company verses 3, an ILEC,CLEC and ISP. If cable is available to you, GET IT. of course, this is based on my experience.Rule number one of the Zeller Home Theater entertainment system:

My plan I have is $40CND/month (normally, I'm getting it for $20CND). 920kbps downstream, and 128kbps upstream. 5gb/5gb limit, and $8CND every extra gig.
The one I am going to get it 3bmit downstream, 640kpbs upstream and 20GB limit (combined up/down). It will cost $70CND/month... I think I might get it for $40CND.

Wow I don't know what I'd do if I had a bandwidth limit for the month. I wouldn't be able to host my site or my ftp... and I'd have to majorly cut back on IRC downloads.
