The one thing about this group of members is, despite the small size, we represent a lot of diversity (mostly geographic, but the point stands). With a very uncertain time ahead of us (just as it was in September 2001), its nice to be able to get input and opinions from people we know, from all over the globe. From the US to the UK, to Australia, Canada, Korea, and beyond, there's plenty of room for everyone's opinions on the matter.
A thread or two about major current events won't change the fact that the primary focus of this board is for gaming-related matters.
And for some reason, I kept imagining Robin Williams' voice in my head when reading your post.

It's begun.
Most of my school will walk out tomorrow in protest (this has been planned for a while).
I won't be joining them. It's not that I don't agree with them, it's just that it's painfully obvious that absolutely nothing has stopped Bush (not the useless UN, not the US's allies, not his own father, not the outcry of the citizens of every goddamned country on the face of the earth), and a walkout by a gaggle of overprivileged stoners who just want to get out of class will do less.
Vive la war. Here's hoping Iraq completely destroys its oilfields before the end.
Like most americans I am very confused and somewhat against the war. And then theres a part of me that wakes up and says...The guy is a fucking crazy man. HELLO!
As if Saddam is going to disarm, the guy lost the Gulf War. Hes just going to sit there and say
"oh of course I disarmed. No hard feelings, I have no problem with the fact we got our ass kicked in the early 90's. I have no negative feeling against America."
Bush has a logical look to this. We are not in the best of times, America was attacked by a bunch of uneducated crazies, and yeah you have had a decade to "disarm" your ass is grass Sadam.
I do thou believe this war is mostly about oil, not much for the welfare of the Iraqi citizens unless we do something amazeing. Im more concered by the dumbasses in Saudi Arabia and other "Jihad-ish" countries that claim the war is against Islam (huh?) and want to blow themselves up over in America...or the U.K. or Spain or anyother country that deploys a single troop or aids the U.S.
I think we should send Ali-G awsome political homeboy up in the shizout to go bitchslapping those mutha fuckers. Tue dat.
-vidiot-
yaknow...Im tired of the war crusty crap. Lets change this topic to Ali-G

While I'm not thrilled with Cheney, Bush, and the rest of them "profiting" (in a sense) from Iraqui oil, I'd hate to see all of that oil destroyed senselessly like that. Its bad enough we as a society consume as much as we do, but people need to realize that its not a renewable resource. There IS a limit as to how much oil is under the Earth. Destroying massive amounts of it, on a scale that most people can't even imagine, would be an environmental disaster, as well as an overall disaster once fuel supplies start dropping in the future (I'm talking decades from now).
Cheers to my friends who are caught up in this mess. I wouldn't wish anyone else to be in their shoes right about now.
My sister, her husband, and their children are all in Jordan right now. I'm not happy. THOSE are my views and opinions on this war, and its all I'm saying.
Ren
I just got a pretty funny email in my inbox just now.

To whom it concernes, this is total bull...you people fail to see the point
of removing Sadam from his reign of power. The war isn't a unjust crime
againist Iraq, it's a liberation of the people from the grips of a man who
kills ends amounts of his own frucking people!!! You fucked up liberal left
wing nut jobs are trying to run this country into the ground from which you
helped build it from. I belive that the reasons are just enough for the
President(mind you who is a republican) decided that Sadam is a threat to
all of us and must be relieved of his spot in the ruling of Iraq. I'm an
Independant voter but I belive that we must show unity w/ are president no
matter which side he represents, furthermore I'd like to have whoever please
stop sending me these siisy ass, crying, emails about not going to
war...it's done already and I'm for it. Anyways how stupid are you fucking
peace loving fools? if were to wait and leave Sadam alone he's help more
terrorists attack us and then you backflipping sons-a-bitches would start to
blame the president for not dealing w/ the issue earlier. So in closing my
thoughts are as follow 1) War brings peace
2) You're all a bunch of sissy ass winers
3) Simple as that so shut the fuck up and deal w/ it!
Thank You All,
Drake Smith
OK I have a couple friends at UC Berkeley. You can probably count how many students there that are pro-war on one hand. A friend of mine keeps forwarding/sending emails to me and a list of other people about upcoming anti-war protests and the like. Finally one of those email recipients decided to reply to the whole lot voicing his opinions and to stop sending him those emails. I agree with him, I'm for this war. I mean seriously now it's almost damned if you do, damned if you don't. Bush decided to go ahead with this, but if he had decided to wait, and if Saddam attacks, then what happens? Bush gets accused of waiting too long.
Can I join the Eff Bee? Aiiiiii.

Here are my opinions on war ....
FUCK the war. Seriously.
The Australian Prime Minister recently decided to cut back funding on education to support the war (or fight against terrorism as we call it) for it's duration. That may sound all fine and dandy to you guys, but that may have just ruined my life. My first preference subject was CANCELLED at uni because funding was retracted from it, simply because it wasn't as popular as other subjects. Now give me ONE fucking good reason why i should support people building machines to kill people instead of using that money to support my and other student's education and future. Is war more important than education? From all this, i've recieved my 3rd, yeah THIRD preference when i could have recieved my first. I wasn't allowed into my second because by the time they cancelled it, i was already accepted into my first preference and my 2nd was full, my only other option was 3rd.
Another point, Sadam has been in power for OVER 30 years, what has changed 30 years ago, since now? Why didn't the US act 30 years ago? Because there weren't any terrorist attacks? Ok, so the US can't find Bin Laden so they go attack Sadam. How about these words anyone? "WE WILL FIND BIN LADEN", so uh where is he? 30 years has passed and iraqi people does not need any 'saving' from Sadam. The fucking US act like angels to the whole world, but only if they can gain something from it and with 2 blind eyes and a double edged sword in hand.
So wat happens when this war is over? what happens with the iraqi people and sadam's governing of the nation? US will probably take over. HEY! remember when US took over governing of Japan? They told every japanese out there to eat whalemeat because there was plenty of it, but now? they condem them for doing so, even in the name of culture. The world does not need saving, Americans. You should go spend some of the funds you waste on military equipment on the 3rd world countries or some shit and leave everything alone.
So Sadam gets beaten into a pile shit, and the US rules - eventually they will give it back. Oh and uhhh.. btw US, its not only the Iraqis that know how to be terrorists yknow. Lets go attack every other country!!!! We have lots of untapped oil as well US, come here !!
On WHAT basis can you say Sadam is helping the terrorists. And from even that, what does Sadam have to gain from helping them? Watching the americans run around squeeling? Sadam isn't going to fucking take over the world, he has no intentions to - he's just an asshole, thats it.
Get a fucking clue, even if you arn't affected by the war, and it may seem we arn't either, because we are so distant from it all, but I am. And im paying for what? So America gets more fuel at cheaper prices? So Australia gets 'benefits' (take away a few billion we owe to the US *wink* *wink* John Howard huh). So you can feel safe because there are no more biochemical weapons? HEY I heard there is a fatal influezna spreading around with no antibiotic, so uhh.. how much are they spending to prevent that? Fuckin. Wheres the love at huh?
