Some use sim cards, but many do not, although that I do see more phones these days with them.
It's still definitely not as widespread as it is overseas.

I've got to get a triband cellphone cause a) my old cellphone needs replacing and b) I've got to get something I can use when I *hopefully* move out to the States this autumn/winter. I was hoping I'd be able to just swap the sim cards, which someone I was talking to on a plane suggested. So I hope Verizon uses sim cards, because it would probably make sense to be on the same network as the boyfriend. o_0

Yeah, usually if your phones are carried by the same company, you get a discount on calling each other.
Moon, I'm sorry your lovelife sucks. Mine got all better after I completely "gave up" on it. I think the problem is young people expect too much/try too hard, and then life never seems to work out the way you want it to...
Just live your life for you. Then anything else that happens is a pleasant surprise.
