HD-DVD or BluRay?
Which are you looking forward to? If any at all.
I will be getting a Bluray player by default since it will come with PS3. But I have no intention of buying stand alone players. However, I support bluray over HDDVD solely because of supperior capacity (can't wait to reduce my CD/DVD collection to a single spindle).

Okay so basically its the sony-mgm conglomerate vs the paramount-universal and warner conglomerate.

I don't have an HDTV, LCD, plasma.. whatever... so I won't be able to "see" the difference most likely between blueray/hdvd and current dvd. I'm not buying into this @#%$ -- and its not only because I don't have the money, now.
People are still going to rip for p2p, and if some sort of cross-manufacturing-at-a-reasonable-price doesn't happen, that is where I will be. P2p.

Ren, the battle is happening now, but they're fighting over who stands a few years from now, not today. HDTV is still in the "Oh WOW, you got one!" phase for most Americans, but both sides want their format established by the time HDTVs reach "Oh, so you've got one too?"
As Gest said, there's a lot of money at stake here, and Sony doesn't want Blu-Ray to go the way of the Betamax. And Sony has one hell of a Trojan Horse in the PS3 for getting their brand into people's homes.
